A few weeks ago, OT students visited the MWU gym with families living on campus to observe and explore the various developments of their children. A special shout-out goes to Professor Selim for her pediatric contributions to Occupational Therapy! 👧👦

🌟SOTA SpOTlight Bailey Vollmer🌟

Bailey is an OT-1 and is from Reno, Nevada! Her favorite class so far has been Psychosocial 1 and Cognition & Perception because she is drawn to learning how to support individuals through their healing process. She looks forward to learning about the different practice areas. Bailey is interested in going into Geriatrics but has been very interested in Mental Health OT! She loves the OT professors because they are genuinely dedicated and inspiring which creates an environment where I feel motivated and encouraged to pursue my academic and personal goals.

Read more about Bailey’s OT Journey:

“I wanted a career that allowed me to live in my purpose, where I was excited to go to work everyday and am making a difference in people’s lives. And that is exactly what OT is for me!”

SOTA Spotlight Charles Bennet 🌟

Charles is an OT-1 from El Paso, Texas. His favorite class has been Pyschosocial because he enjoys learning more about psychiatric disorders and Dr. Anderson makes the class interesting. He also has been enjoying Cognition & Perception because he is able to learn more about himself and how to regulate emotions. Charles is still unsure of what setting he wants to go into but he’s excited to learn more about each setting. A fun fact about Charles is that he’s a two time national champion and a world champion in cheerleading!

Read more about why Charles loves Midwestern:

“I love the OT program because when walking onto campus and into the interviews, the faculty members made sure we were relaxed and going into the actual interview, it felt like a natural conversation and they wanted to get to know me, beyond OT.”

Midwestern University's Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.) program provides the foundation for you to contribute to and identify healthcare solutions for patients of various ages, diagnoses, and occupational challenges.

The Occupational Therapy Program offers a curriculum leading to the Master of Occupational Therapy degree for qualified students. The full-time, continuous, entry-level master's curriculum is designed to deliver the academic and clinical education required to prepare students for their professional role as critical members of the healthcare team and as integral practitioners in the healthcare delivery system. The curriculum for the Master of Occupational Therapy degree is a continuous, full-time program, extending 24 months from matriculation to graduation. The maximum allotted time for completion of this program is 36 months. It is also required that all Level II fieldwork must be completed within 18 months of completion of the didactic portion of the program. The general education, professional training, experience, and personal character development of occupational therapists uniquely prepare them to respond to the needs of individuals who face challenges in their daily lives.
