Fundraising goes through the 31st! You get tasty snacks for back-to-school AND help support Sun Valley Academy.

Every year we remind our families to please be aware of our extreme temperatures and be sure your child comes to school with a water bottle, which can be refilled throughout the day at any of our water stations.

In addition, we encourage you to apply sunscreen on your child every day, protecting them against harmful UV rays.

Rest assured, we are monitoring temperatures each day making alternative arrangements for recess when it's too hot.

Thanks for helping us keep your child safe and comfortable while we wait for outdoor temperatures to moderate.

🔔 Today's Back-to-School Tip: Establish Goals

One of our favorite things about the new school year is setting goals!

We LOVE the back-to-school excitement. The possibilities and opportunities feel endless and are right at our fingertips. It's an amazing feeling that we hope you all share.

As a fun family activity, discuss and set achievable goals (with rewards!) for the school year. This can give everyone something to look forward to and strive for as the school year progresses.

🔔 Today's Back-to-School Tip: Plan and prepare your first-week-back meals.

Even if you're not a meal planner normally, we encourage families to jointly plan meals for the first week of school to help remove unnecessary stress from the first days back.

This can also be a way to keep summer fun in play once school begins. Pizza Friday can be a treat to celebrate a successful first week back, for example. Each intentional meal is a way to discuss the day's successes and struggles, which can be so important to your child when returning to the classroom.

Keep breakfasts and packed lunches nutrient-dense and simple to help create routines and expectations.

🔔 Today's Back-to-School Tip: Create your homework space.

Does your family have a dedicated homework or study space? It doesn't have to be a large space, as long as it's a productive space. A chair at the kitchen table that's only used by your child during homework time is sufficient!

Once you have your space identified, make sure it's a productive space. Are there obvious distractions? Is it noisy? Solve for those challenges now to ensure the space is effective for your family's homework routines.

Tackle any roadblocks you uncover prior to classes starting so you and your child can help each other ease into homework once school begins.

We know. School starts early in Arizona and this school year may have snuck up on you. There's no need to stress. We still have seats open in certain grade levels, and it's not too late to make sure your child has a great school year!
