Ready for liftoff! 🚀 Welcome Mr. Santiago:
José Santiago recently joined Charles G. Reskin Elementary School as Assistant Principal. A Chicago native, first-generation college graduate, and proud product of urban public schools, José brings over a decade of educational leadership experience focused on student success, school culture, and family engagement. Throughout his career, he has served as a Dean of Students, Dean of Culture, Director of Culture and Climate, and Assistant Principal. His leadership is grounded in the belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a sense of belonging are essential to helping every student thrive.
José holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Public Relations from Coe College and a master's degree in School Counseling. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Urban Education Leadership at the University of Illinois Chicago, where his work focuses on building collaborative systems that support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students.
Having settled in a neighboring suburb of Glendale Heights in 2019, José is especially proud to serve a school community that is so closely connected to the place he and his family call home. As both an educator and father of two young children, he looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families while building upon the strong foundation already established at Reskin. He is excited to work alongside Principal Melissa Rosa and the Reskin team to continue the positive momentum and student-centered work already underway. Together, they will help ensure every Rocket feels welcomed, supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.
