Another great year is coming to a close! 2025-2026 is done, and what a great “season” it was!

We all have much to be proud of on the year—Superior Ratings by both Concert and Symphonic Bands and Jazz Band, and another great showing at Solo/Ensemble Contest.

To top it all off, everyone sounded wonderful tonight at the Thirty-second annual Commencement Exercises of Glencoe-Silver Lake High School and Stevens Seminary! A very sincere thank you to our group of band Seniors this year—thanks for joining us one last time. We are pleased to report that the GSL Band class of 2026 is taking home $63000 in local scholarships this year--a new record!

Like thousands of cities and towns across the nation, our local communities of Plato, Glencoe, and Silver Lake host very meaningful and moving services each year on Memorial Day. Thank you GSL Band members who helped make these events more special with your beautiful playing. Thank you to Tanya Christensen and Alissa Carlson for taking photos and videos. Special thanks to Lilly Piersen for providing "Taps" at the Plato service. We have ONE thing left for the school year--Graduation Friday night!

Last night we had a great Spring Concert with the GSL 9-12 Symphonic and Concert Bands. Congratulations to everyone, especially our 14 Senior band members who performed their last concert:

Last Saturday, nine Lakeside Band members participated as members of the CMBDA regional Beginning/Second Year Honor Band Festival:

⭐️ Aria, clarinet

The event was held in Zimmerman with over 30 schools and 200 students participating. Guest conductors were Pam Diem and Tim Smith. GREAT job, Lakesiders!!

Last week, select 5th and 6th grade band students assisted Mrs. Nyholm with promoting band for incoming 4th graders. They each talked about why they enjoy playing their instruments and their favorite elements of being a Lakeside Band member. They each demonstrated Hot Cross Buns so 4th grade students could hear each instrument be played. We are excited to welcome a new group of beginning musicians soon! 🥁🎺
