Dear AC Families,

What a great first day of school! Thank you for helping us start the year strong. Our hallways were filled with smiling faces, excitement, and energy, making for a wonderful beginning.

As expected, we made a few adjustments and worked through a few new routines. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make sure every student is in the right place and settling smoothly into the school year.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented Alcorn Central today. They showed kindness, respect, and resilience throughout the day, and our dedicated staff did an outstanding job welcoming everyone back with care and enthusiasm.

As we head into Day 2, we encourage students to:

* Be kind
* Make our school a little better each day

Thank you for your continued support and for trusting us with your children. We are excited for all that this school year will bring and look forward to an outstanding year together.

TODAY- 10th & 11th Grade Orientation

Orientation talks for 10th and 11th grade students and parents will be held at 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM in the Junior High Gym.

The same 15-minute presentation will be given at both times, so families may attend whichever session works best.

Parking information, technology needs, lunch forms, DragonFly issues, and student schedules will be handled in the High School Gym.

Today's ACHS nugget is about cell phones.

ASD Policy: The use of cell phones, Bluetooth devices, or any electronic device not approved by the Alcorn School District is prohibited during instructional time.

What is instructional time?
Instructional time begins when students enter the classroom and continues until they are dismissed by the teacher. During this time, teachers should be teaching and students should be learning.

We all recognize that excessive screen time has become a challenge for many students, and cell phones can be a significant distraction to learning, engagement, and classroom success.

We encourage you to have this conversation with your student before school begins. When parents and schools work together, students are more likely to succeed.

- Morning Session: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Attendance is highly encouraged for all seniors and at least one parent/guardian. Important information regarding graduation requirements, senior expectations, deadlines, scholarships, senior events, and other key dates will be shared.

Grades 10–11
⏰ Open House: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

⏰ Open House: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

During Open House, families will have the opportunity to:
- Meet teachers
- Learn classroom expectations
- Walk class schedules and locate classrooms
- Collect supply lists & information for individual classes

During Orientation Sessions, families will receive:
- Important back-to-school information
- Handbook changes and related information
- New attendance information

🚗 Students requesting a parking permit should bring:
• Valid driver's license
• Current proof of automobile insurance
• Vehicle information (make, model, and license plate number)

⚠ Please Note: Any outstanding balances from previous school years must be paid before student schedules, parking permits, or school devices can be issued.

We are looking forward to another outstanding year at ACHS and cannot wait to see everyone back on campus soon!
