Curtain Up Studios

Curtain Up Studios Curtain Up Studios provides main-stage productions, theatre workshops, summer camps and school productions.

Founded by Paula Hegyi & Diana Roth-Fili, we inspire a love of musical theater across New Jersey through classes, camps, workshops, school partnerships, and full-scale productions for ages 5–18, building confidence, creativity, and teamwork along the way.

You don’t have to feel confident before you try acting. Sometimes acting is where that confidence begins.

Acting 101 is a supportive after-school class where students build skills, explore characters and grow at their own pace.

Ages 9–15. Thursdays 4:30-5:30. We start September 24th.

Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to be in one of our full-scale musicals? We use theatre lingo and call them Mainstage Productions.

Performing on stage with professional lighting, beautiful costumes, scenic sets, and a live audience brings out a special kind of confidence in each of our performers ages 10-17.

Seeing our performers' transformations each season never gets old after all these years.

At Curtain Up Studios, performers learn that acting is more than memorizing lines. It’s about understanding the character, what they are saying, and making the audience feel something.

From first rehearsals to the final performance, our Mamma Mia campers transformed these songs & scenes in just five days. They learned their lines, found their confidence, supported one another, and turned a group of performers into a true cast of friends.

That’s what Curtain Up is all about: creating a place where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated.

Thank you to our performers, assistants Samantha. B Emma Reiman, parents, and Unitarian Society of Ridgewood for making this last week of Summer Camp 2026 possible. 💛

Between choreography, music, staging, and keeping rehearsals moving, there’s always something happening behind the scenes... including the occasional coffee mystery.

Building a theatre company is part directing, part coffee crime investigation, and we’re lucky we get to do it together.

This is what 5 days of Aladdin Jr. Musical Theatre camp can do.

On Monday, they walk in for role placement. Some are brand new. Some have performed before. Every camper gets a role, a script, and the chance to step into a character.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, they’re learning choreography, blocking, songs, and scenes. New friendships are forming. Confidence starts replacing nerves.

Thursday is dress rehearsal. Costumes go on, the story comes together, and suddenly it feels like a real production.

Then Friday arrives.

The same kids who nervously auditioned just days before step on stage, off book, in costume, performing Aladdin Jr. for a packed audience of family and friends.

That’s our favorite part. Not just the show, but the transformation.

Watching these kids, ages 6-10, discover they’re capable of so much more than they thought in only five days. 🧞

Day 3 of camp is when choreography starts to come together. These 6-10 year olds are learning songs & scenes from Aladdin Jr. and transported us quickly to the Arabian Desert. We can’t wait to show you their performance for family & friends on Day 5 of camp.

Five days. New friendships. Big confidence.

There’s nothing better than watching a group of kids cheer each other on, step outside their comfort zones, and take the stage together. We’re so proud of everything our Matilda cast accomplished during their week of camp.

If your child is ready for their turn in the spotlight, there’s still time to join Aladdin Jr. Week 2 for ages 9–14, July 27–31 in Ridgewood, NJ. Every camper is cast, and all experience levels are welcome.
