Students proudly showcased their research, creativity, and knowledge through impressive exhibits highlighting Greek history, mythology, culture, and achievements. Tuesday, June 2, 2026 -Academy of Our Lady celebrated our 8th Grade, Class of 2026, almost Graduates with a Baccalaureate Mass and Dinner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Ridgewood.

Alumni Spotlight: Edward Desciak, Academy of Our Lady Class of 2017

We are thrilled to celebrate Academy of Our Lady alumnus Edward Desciak ('17) and his many accomplishments.

Edward graduated from Yale University in 2025 with a degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics and a concentration in Religion and American Politics. Inspired by the Jesuit spirituality he encountered at Regis High School, Edward pursued academic work focused on the intersection of faith, public life, and social responsibility. His senior thesis examined the evolution of economic teaching and guidance from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops during the late twentieth century.

Beyond the classroom, Edward has been deeply involved in criminal justice reform, earning fellowship and grant funding to support nonprofit work as a paralegal with a civil rights and criminal defense attorney in New Haven.

Today, Edward serves as the 2025–26 Joseph A. O'Hare, S.J., Postgraduate Media Fellow at America Media, where he writes about the intersection of Catholicism, culture, and American public life.

This week, Edward published an article for America Magazine titled:

"Your Catholic Guide to the 2026 N.B.A. Finals: Spurs Sisters vs. Villanova Knicks"

In the article, he brings together faith, culture, sports, and humor to explore one of the most unexpected Catholic storylines of this year's NBA Finals.

After Mrs. Pardo's class learned all about farm animals in the classroom, they had a wonderful visit from Farm Chicks. Miss Diana and Mr. Paul brought many different animals for us to learn about and pet (only if they wanted to). The class learned about guinea pigs, chickens, rabbits, ducklings, a tortoise and goats! 🙏⛪ On Thursday, May 21st, our 2nd graders joyfully celebrated receiving the sacrament of First Holy Communion during Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It was a beautiful and faith-filled day for our students and their families.

The second grade also lovingly honored Mary during the May Crowning celebration at St. Catharine's. 💙🌸
