Women's Behavioral Health at Zucker Hillside Hospital/Northwell Health Zucker Hillside Hospital offers women the opportunity to participate in clinical research focused on understanding and treating perinatal depression.

Northwell Health's Zucker Hillside Hospital of Glen Oaks, New York offers a research program focused on understanding and treating depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Our current research studies focus on women’s depression in pregnancy and the postpartum period. Women can be at increased risk of having depression in late pregnancy or after giving birth. About one in eight women develop postpartum depression. Zucker Hillside Hospital has extensive clinical programs focused on treating women with mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders during the peripartum period. Clinical services include a variety of treatment settings from ambulatory care to partial hospitalization programs and inpatient settings designed specifically for women.

Do you plan to start an antidepressant to improve your mood? Are you pregnant or within 1 year of delivery and are experiencing mood changes? The Women's Behavioral Health Research Team at Northwell Health is conducting research to understand why antidepressants prescribed for postpartum depression work for only some but not all women. Your participation will help improve treatment options for other women experiencing similar symptoms. What is involved? 3 research visits (most or all via telehealth) including surveys, research interviews, blood and urine samples (at home) and option for brain MRI.
