🏌️‍♀️ GRIFFIN GIRLS GOLF TAKES ON A TOUGH FIELD! 💚💛

The Father McGivney Girls Golf team continued its early-season schedule Friday at the Belleville West Invitational, gaining valuable 18-hole tournament experience against some of the area's strongest Class 1A and Class 2A programs.

Freshman Kathryn Kueper led the Griffins with a round of 100, followed by Libby Horton (107) and fellow freshman Reese Reinhardt (109).

Congratulations to all six Griffins who represented McGivney! Every tournament is another opportunity to compete, grow, and gain experience. We’re proud of this young team and look forward to watching them continue to improve throughout the season!

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Alicia Erwin to our McGivney staff as our new Lunch Supervisor, beginning Monday, August 24!

Mrs. Erwin is already a familiar face within the McGivney community. She is the mother of Eli, a current sophomore, and Julia Behrmann, a 2025 McGivney graduate, and the wife of our Baseball Coach, Chris Erwin.

Mrs. Erwin brings years of professional experience in customer service and human resources, along with strong organizational skills and, most importantly, a genuine commitment to our students and the McGivney community. She will work alongside Mrs. Lori Mitan to help create a lunch environment that is safe, fun, welcoming, and positive for all of our McGivney Griffins.

We are thrilled to have Mrs. Erwin join our staff in this new role and know she will be a wonderful addition to the daily experience of our students. Please take a moment to welcome and congratulate Mrs. Erwin when you see her on campus!

There’s something special about watching the sunrise together as the beginning of senior year unfolds. ☀️

This morning, our Class of 2027 gathered to kick off their final year at Father McGivney Catholic High School. Before the classes, the activities, the games, the events, and all the moments still to come, they took a little time to celebrate the beginning of their last year together.

Here’s to a year filled with memories, traditions, friendships, and plenty of Griffin pride. 💚💛

🎾 Grateful to start the season with a victory for the Griffins over Granite City High School on August 20th! 🎾

All glory goes to God for giving our team the strength to compete and keeping us united. It was a beautiful day on the courts as both our Varsity and JV teams won all of their matches! Every player showed wonderful effort, working hard as one and playing with humble hearts. We are so proud of how the Griffins represented our community today, and we know there is still a lot of hard work ahead of us!

At No. 1 singles, Kaitlyn Terhaar gave Glen Carbon a strong start with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Granite City’s Peyton Shipley. Avalinn Olson followed at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory, and Camila Carruthers added another straight-set sweep at No. 3 singles with 6-0, 6-0 set.

The cleanest wins came later in the lineup, where Eleanor Willenborg, Shea Guinn and Veronica Noronha all posted 6-0, 6-0 decisions. Glen Carbon then capped the shutout with doubles victories from Olson and Terhaar at No. 1, plus dominant 8-0 efforts from Willenborg and Carruthers at No. 2 and Guinn and Jenna Goebel at No. 3.

JV matches included wins by doubles partners Jaclyn Goebel/Anna Moore, Elizabeth King/Ellie Rossetto, Ava Willis/Jaclyn Goebel, Makenna Smith/Maura Tutt, and Veronica Noronha/Addy McElroy.

Next up, we are blessed to compete in the Alton High School Simpson Doubles tournament this Saturday. We look forward to another opportunity to learn, grow, and play together.

🏆 BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS! 🏆

The Father McGivney Catholic High School Griffins defended their Madison County Invitational small-school title for the second year in a row, finishing Thursday’s tournament at Belk Park with a team score of 314! ⛳️

The Griffins came up big on the leaderboard, with four players earning medals in the small-school division:

🥉 Brayden Kerns (Sr)— 3rd place, 76
🏅 Jack Stirnaman (So) — 4th place, 77
🏅 Sam Sink (Jr) — 9th place, 80
🏅 Austin Sanks (Fr) — 10th place, 81

Also competing for the Griffins were Joey Seefeldt and Carson Oller.

The Griffins are back on the course Monday, August 24, for the Catholic Schools Tournament at Legacy Golf Course.
