Welcoming our alumni back to South University, Richmond

Recently, our Clinical Mental Health Counseling alumni returned to campus to spend meaningful time with current students and share what life looks like after graduation.

We were honored to welcome back:
β€’ Tyeasha Williams‑Powell (Class of 2012)
β€’ Stefanie Linden (Class of 2013)
β€’ Deanne Horne‑Davis (Class of 2017)

During the visit, these accomplished alumni reflected on their professional journeys from the learning curves and breakthroughs of their externships to balancing family, work, and graduate school. They also discussed preparing for the licensure exam, navigating early career roles, and the promotions and opportunities that have shaped their paths since earning their degrees.

Students enjoyed the chance to connect over pizza, ask questions, and begin building relationships that may influence their own externship experiences and future career opportunities.

We are grateful to our alumni for giving back to the next generation of counselors and continuing to embody the spirit of South University, Richmond.

Elevating the Skillset for the Future | LeVar E. Curry | South University, Columbia 06/08/2026

As we prepare to celebrate more graduates across South University this week and weekend, we're inspired by stories like that of 2025 graduate LeVar E. Curry. πŸͺ–

After facing setbacks while trying to enroll elsewhere, LeVar didn't give up. Encouraged by a fellow military service member, he connected with South University, brought in his paperwork, and soon began his journey toward earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from South University, Columbia.

LeVar's experience as a military recruiter not only helped him serve others, but also helped him earn credit toward his degree and continue building his future.πŸŽ–οΈ

His story is a reminder that the path to graduation isn't always a straight line. Sometimes it includes obstacles, detours, and moments that test your perseverance. But when opportunity meets determination, incredible things can happen.

To our graduates preparing to cross the stage in the coming days: your hard work, resilience, and commitment have brought you to this moment. We can't wait to celebrate all you've accomplished and all that lies ahead.

πŸŽ“ Congratulations, LeVar, and congratulations to the South University Class of 2026. Your next chapter starts now!

⁉️ If someone you love needed CPR right now to save their life, would you know what to do ⁉️

❀️ This week is National CPR & AED Awareness Week, and it's a powerful reminder that knowing what to do in an emergency can save a life.

Did you know that approximately 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home? That means if you're ever called upon to perform CPR, it will most likely be for someone you know and love - a parent, spouse, child, family member, friend, or neighbor.

At South University, many of our students, alumni, faculty, and healthcare professionals are trained in CPR and AED use because every second matters when a cardiac emergency occurs.

The truth is simple: You could be the difference between life and death for someone you care about.

πŸ’ We want to hear from you!

➑️ Are you CPR certified?
➑️ Have you ever had to use your CPR training in a real-life situation?
➑️ What advice or tips would you share with someone considering CPR certification?

Drop your experiences, encouragement, or favorite CPR tips in the comments below. Your story could inspire someone to learn a skill that saves a life. ❀️

πŸŽ“ Welcome, Graduation Season! πŸŽ“

The moment so many of our students have worked toward is finally here.

Over the next several weeks, South University campuses and Online Programs will celebrate the accomplishments of graduates whose journeys have been marked by perseverance, dedication, sacrifice, and determination. From late nights studying and balancing work, family, military service, and life’s many responsibilities, to overcoming challenges and achieving personal milestones, this moment represents so much more than a diploma.

Graduation is a celebration of every step taken, every obstacle overcome, and every goal achieved along the way.

To our graduates: We are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished and honored to have been part of your journey. Your hard work, resilience, and commitment have brought you to this milestone, and we cannot wait to see the impact you make in your professions, communities, and beyond.

As commencement ceremonies begin across South University, we look forward to celebrating each and every one of you.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. Your moment has arrived. πŸ’™πŸ’ΌπŸ§‘
