Whitney Gray Silveira is the Director of Institutional Giving at the Connecticut Science Center and a Licensed Real Estate Agent with Eagle Eye Realty PLLC and is coming up on one year at Glastonbury Education Foundation!

Whitney tells us she joined Glastonbury Education Foundation because she believes we all have a responsibility to support our community by contributing our time and skills when we can. It is also important for our children to see us involved in community service. 🥹🫶🏽
Her favorite thing about the Glastonbury Education Foundation is the teamwork and collaboration among its members. “This group is truly committed to rolling up its sleeves to help Glastonbury thrive.” 💪🏾

Whitney’s hidden gem of Glastonbury is The Fairy Garden on Little Acres Road, her favorite Glastonbury tradition is The fall Glastonbury Education Foundation Gala or 5K, obviously 😉

Whitney is an Aries ♈️, her favorite food is pizza 🍕, she has a random skill of Refinishing furniture that she find on the curb, her walk on song is: Coldplay – Adventure of a Lifetime 🎉

We have quickly, and thankfully, learned that Whitney could teach a 10 minute class on with zero prep on High-profile, large-scale event logistics!

🌟 🌟 Meet the Board Monday! 🌟 🌟

Carlos Veliz is an Engineering Project Manager and has been on the board since March of this year.

Carlos joined the board as he wanted to be a part of the enrichment of his kids daily lives. His favorite thing about GEF is “all the community engagement with my new peers and striving towards the same goal of making our community a wonderful place to live.”

Carlos moved to Glastonbury for the excellent school systems 🏫 and stayed for the company! His favorite Glastonbury tradition is Apple Harvest Festival 🍎, feels every Glastonbury resident should experience Christmas decorations 🎄 put up by the Danco family near Eastbury Pond!

Carlos’ walk on song is “Oye com ova by Sanatana,” he is a Scorpio ♏️ and his favorite food is Spaghetti alle vongole 🍝.

Sanam Solati Yurczyk is our most recent and next 5K Chair, has been on the board since 2025 and the owner of Sanam Solati

Sanam joined GEF because “With two children in our school system, I joined GEF to play an active role in supporting and strengthening our schools. It’s inspiring to watch innovative ideas come forward and see GEF help bring them to life. That impact reinforces my belief that investing in education builds a stronger community for everyone.” 🏫 ✏️

Sanam’s favorite Glastonbury tradition she feels everyone should experience is LOBSTER FEST! 🦞

“ I would LOVE to see some version of a festival come to life that captures the spirit of our community, local vendors, restaurants, music and celebration that is tailored to our towns unique character. We used to have the Strawberry Moon Festival, I’d love to see a revival of an all inclusive summer event, one that kicks off the summer and showcases all that Glastonbury has to offer!” 🍗🌮🫔🍿🍓🎶🎤

🌟 Meet the Board Monday! 🌟 🌟

Jennifer Luciano recently joined our board in June and is a Pharmacist 👩‍⚕️ , administrator and academician.
Jennifer joined GEF because she was looking for a way to get involved in her community in a way that felt meaningful and beyond school specific opportunities. GEF provides her the opportunity to meet and network with other individuals in our town and community.

Jennifer loves going to Belltown Hill Orchards
to pick apples 🍎 , devour apple fritters, savor apple cider 🍺 slushies and of course buy pies 🥧 to bake at home!

Some fun facts about Jen- she is a Scorpio ♏️, Filipino 🇵🇭, loves lobster 🦞 (she is super excited for LobsterFest!!!), a HUGE supporter of the USA 🇺🇸 Men’s National Soccer Team, AND she could teach a ten minute class on glass bead jewelry making.

Jen feels that “Glastonbury is that it’s a complete gem of a town. Everything that you could need is nearby, great food, cute shops, and well organized extracurricular and community activities.

🌟 🌟 Meet the Board Monday! 🌟 🌟

Abby Dudarewicz is a Realtor with SERHANT. Connecticut
and has been on the Board since May 2026.

Abby tells us, “I love that Glastonbury has the charm of a small town while still offering so much. We have a cute downtown, great neighborhoods, beautiful parks and trails, amazing local farms, and it’s easy to get almost anywhere in Connecticut.”
We asked about Her favorite Glastonbury tradition and she said: “It’s a tie between LobsterFest and Glastonbury Pride. I love that one is a long-standing tradition that gives back to our community, while the other reflects how our town continues to grow and become even more welcoming. I think there’s room for both, and that’s part of what makes Glastonbury so special.”

Abby joined GEF because I wanted to give back to the community. I love being part of organizations that make a lasting impact, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support programs that inspire learning, encourage creativity, and strengthen our community for years to come.
