Is a home-based private tutoring business. For over 15 years, I have worked in both public and private school settings. I taught students in Grades Pre K-8 and worked collaboratively with many teachers and administrators. I am a language arts/literacy specialist for Grades Pre K-12. I am trained in the Orton –Gillingham approach that uses multisensory methods for teaching reading, spelling, and vocabulary, including intervention strategies for struggling readers. I successfully tutor struggling and dyslexic students of all ages using both Recipe for Reading and the Wilson Reading System. While teaching, I also performed as a professional storyteller in area public schools and childcare centers. I have a vast knowledge of literature and authors from picture books to Shakespeare. By briefly reading aloud to students at the beginning of most tutoring sessions, I motivate them to become better readers. I am equally passionate about the teaching of writing. With my guidance, students hone their writing skills in many different areas, including book reports, original poetry, all types of essays, and research papers for school. Clark University
