On May 18th, Glassboro High School Band Director, Arthur Myers, and Glassboro High School band member, Ijeoma Ufomba, along with 30 guest high school students and members of the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble (SJAWE), performed a special side-by-side concert at Atlantic County Institute of Technology. This special concert brought together talented high school musicians, regular members of the SJAWE and guest piano soloist, Dr. Jasmin Lee. The musical selections were directed by the SJAWE Musical Artistic Director, Dr. Keith Hodgson, guest conductor, Dr. Joseph Higgins of Rowan University, Associate Conductor, Ron Poorman, and Assistant Conductor, Jennifer Poorman Hodgson. Ijeoma and the other high school students joined the SJAWE for six selections in the second half of the concert. As a 10-year member of the SJAWE, Mr. Myers performed in both halves of the concert and was the featured off-stage trumpet soloist for An American Elegy, by Frank Ticheli.

The Interact Club did aMAYzing work this month! They participated in a Glassboro Clean Up, made more than 150 cookies for the Unforgotten Haven (to feed the homeless), and sorted books at Book Smiles. They sponsored a Red, White, and Blue Day for the GI GO Fund, put flags in at the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery and walked with the Rotary Club in the Memorial Day Parade. Finally, they had their last visit of the year with the Best Day of My Life group at Pitman Manor and finished out the TOPSports baseball season.
