Working passing the punyo. Two very different heights mean each student has a slightly different problem to solve. Perfect? No, of course not - we're learning.

Thank you to Kombatan GM Shelley Millspaugh for including G**o Kevin of KPA in the instructor lineup for this year's Kapatiran Mandirigma camp in Kansas. It was good seeing friends, old and new. There were attendees from Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Colorado, and California. If you ever have a chance to attend one of the annual camps you absolutely should. Great people, great instructors!

Several of us from KPA will be in attendance at the 25th Anniversary Memorial Camp in Indianapolis at the end of August.

Here's three reasons why you shouuld join us:

1) THE INSTRUCTORS. All of them are top-notch. Really, the cost of this camp for just a couple of these guys wouuld be a deal, but you're getting FIVE. Everything's getting more expensive these days and it's almost impossible to find a ridiculous bargain like this, for what you get.

2) THE TRAINING. If you haven't been to a camp before - or even if you have - three days of intensive training are an irreplaceable experience (each camp is a unique moment in time and space that won't come again). You will come home with a WEALTH of information that you can use for a very, very long time. Plus, if you've been training in Modern Arnis but don't have a teacher to rank you - you can get ranked at this camp in front of top leaders of the art at this camp. Confirm your rank and get new material... it doesnt get better than that.

3) THE FRIENDSHIPS. Going to camps like this, meeting new friends or renewing relationships with old friends might be the best aspect of events like this. Our school has connected to so many wonderful people and instructors over the years thanks to our attending camps and seminars. It connects us to the wider world of our art, and brings home the realization that there are thousands and thousands and thousands of us who also enjoy the smell of burning rattan.

So come to this camp. Getting there is cheaper than MANY other places to go (heck, we can DRIVE for a change!). Meet some folks from KPA, train with us, and hang out with us.

This weekend, we at KPA participated in an effort led by Hock Hochheim to raise money to help support our teacher, Mark Lynn, and his family with medical and family expenses as he recovers from a very serious medical event.

GM Brian Zawilinski joined the effort from Connecticut, and we at KPA joined in virtually, while Hock and several top-tier instructors trained live down in Roanoke, TX.

We cannot thank all who participated and donated enough. Special thanks Dan Anderson who stepped up with an offer with a video package with donations of $50 or more (we'll get you those email addresses tomorrow, Dan!)

As Mark's senior students, we are touched and grateful for everything our community has been doing to support the Lynns during this time. Thanks for keeping Hidden Sword Martial Arts operational (especially to you, Paul, Jenny and Jessica, the seniors in Roanoke) and all of the people at AKATO helping out, thanks for raising these funds, and thanks for joining us in the belief that our teacher will be back on the mats soon.

It's not too late to help out. You can attend tomorrow in Roanoke, or, if you can't make it there, you can donate directly using this link:

https://shop.survivalcentric.com/us/mark-lynn-benefit-martial-arts-seminar-july-18-19-tarrant-county-tx/p/208167

Finally, we know the Lynns appreciate the kind thoughts and prayers being sent their way. Please keep it up!
