Who doesn't love a good song?! The talented Evie Music and Judy Combs joined us Friday to share their passion for music. They shared how they write their own music, produce it, and run their social media accounts. They also performed a few worship songs which seemed to enthrall the children.

Afterwards, the students challenged them to write a new song with key words they provided. The girls graciously accepted the challenge. It was like mad libs for music. 🤣 We are sure of two things. #1. The students must have been feeling hungry given the chosen key words. 🍔🍟🤣 #2. This song is sure to be a.... what do the kids call it these days... a banger! 🎶 💥🎶

Last Friday, Trooper Povich visited our students to show them the use of drones in law enforcement. They learned ways drones help with traffic accidents, floods, fires, explosions, finding missing people, and even in solving crime.

Laws about drone usage and why it is important to obey them were also covered which included watching a video on some near misses that could have caused a major catastrophe with both planes and helicopters. People who fly drones should always check the FFA flight restriction zones.

Trooper Povich used the drone to show the kids what Gladstone and Escanaba look like from above. The kids thought it was incredible that when the drone was right above their heads, they could clearly see Harbor Towers in Escanaba.

The drone has different modes including a "heat" mode which was illuminating as you could tell whether a car had been parked for a short time or a long time. If it was recently both the engine area and tires would show it.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Dianna Anderson Deno and Jodi Wunder for their work and heart to put on a taco and bake sale to benefit students at Living Waters Academy! What a great first day at LWA! The kids took a field trip to the lighthouse on Stonington Peninsula to see if there were any monarchs. Only saw a few of them, but had a great hike with some fun experiences!

Friends, you will notice some changes on our page this year. After a visit by Michigan State Police last spring, we cut back on posting pictures of the kids and will probably not show many (if any) faces this year. Honestly, it pains us not to show the beautiful light of God that shines through these little faces, but safety is more important. We'll still share what the children are experiencing. We have some incredible opportunities coming up that we can't wait to tell you about!

Friends, you did it! We made it to the goal and even a bit above! We were able to provide scholarships to four new students. We thank God for His enduring faithfulness and we thank all of you for your love for the Lord that brings you to give to His work. We have some more individual thanks to give, but wanted to give an overall update on the scholarship drive and the students you blessed. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
