On Friday, December 12, Weldon Elementary School will hold our annual Christmas program. The event is scheduled for 9:00 am and includes second and third grades. The program will take place at the Weldon Elementary School auditorium and will last for about 45 minutes to an hour. Second grade will perform at the beginning of the program and third grade will perform near the end. Visitors may use the auditorium entrance and will be asked to sign in.
The program will feature musical presentations from each of the two grade levels, and other special music.
Every student in these two grades will be performing during this program. We would like to encourage students to wear red, green, or white if possible, in addition to the following dress recommendations for the program:
Long pants (no shorts please)
Shirts with a collar are requested. (Long sleeves are recommended because jackets are not permitted on stage and it might be chilly.)
Students may wear other “Christmasy” items for the program such as Santa hats, reindeer antlers, elf ears, etc., however, they must be removed and stored during instructional time at the discretion of the teacher.
Christmasy dresses and other outfits are allowable as long as they satisfy the regular dress code requirements concerning sleeves, overall length, etc.
No crocs, slides, or flip flops on stage!
We hope that you and your family will be able to join us for this special day. Thank you for your help in making our Christmas program a success!

We hope that you are looking forward to our Veterans Program next Friday, 11/7 at 9:00.
In order to show our Veterans how much we appreciate their service through our performance that day, I'd like to also make it clear that our students have put extra effort into their appearance for the performance. This is an occasion when it is appropriate to 'dress up' a little. It doesn't have to be 'Sunday Best' (it can be, but it doesn't have to), but I would encourage you to think 'Patriotic Picture Day.'
I want everyone to have plenty of time to think about what clothing to wear and make sure it is laundered and ready to go. Shoes are laid out, and accessories are planned. No one needs all that last minute stress in their life! I'm sure that most students have something already in their closets that will be more than acceptable. Please see the excerpt below, which is taken from a letter sent home with 4th and 5th graders a couple of weeks ago.
This is a formal event, so we would love to see our students dressed as nicely for our veterans as possible. We would also like to encourage all students to wear red, white, or blue, in addition to the following dress recommendations for the program:
Long pants (no shorts) PLEASE! Khakis are preferred, but your nicest pair of jeans (without holes) would be great as well.
Collared shirts, long or short sleeved (No T-Shirts PLEASE, especially graphic tees)
Dresses/Sweaters/cardigans/etc. are acceptable for girls, but please remember to mind the dress code
Shoes: PLEASE, absolutely no flip flops, slides or CROCS! Nicer sandals will be OK.
Thank you so much for your help in making this event successful!

Good morning Weldon Families,
This post serves as the FINAL CALL for Veteran Photo submissions for our Veterans Program on 11/7 at 9:00 am. Please see the details from the original post (shared below). We hope to see you at our program NEXT FRIDAY.
Hi!
As we approach Veterans Day this year (our program is on 11/7 at 9:00 am), we need a little bit of help from students and parents. Please see details below!
As in the past, there will be a tribute for veterans that are connected to our Weldon students and families. If you have a loved one who is/was a veteran and you would like to honor them, please consider submitting a photograph of them (hopefully in uniform) so that we can use it during our tribute. Veteran names will be read and photos and submitted information will be displayed. Remember that, unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day is a time to honor ALL veterans, both living and deceased.
The program itself will include performances by 4th and 5th grades, but anyone connected to our school is welcome to submit a photo for the tribute.
You can send an old school, printed photo to school with your child if that's what works best for you. It will be scanned and returned to you. OR, you can email a digital version of the photo to [email protected]. That's usually the easiest, safest way, and it's what I'd prefer.
When submitting, please include the following information:
Veteran Pictured with his/her name as you'd like it to appear and be read aloud
Armed Forces Branch (Army, Navy, etc)
Dates of service (19xx-19xx, for example; if precise information is unknown, feel free to estimate)
Title/Rank

I'd LOVE to have these photos as soon as possible!
Thanks so much for your help!

Mark your calendars for our Christmas program next Wednesday, 12/18 at 9:00.
This program features 2nd and 3rd grades, along with our Weldon Elementary Select Chorus.
11/06/2024
Don't forget about our program this Friday morning at 9:00! 4th and 5th graders will be performing and we'll be joined by the GHS choir. 4th graders will perform toward the beginning of the ceremony and 5th grade will perform close to the end.
Remember, this is a community event for our local VETERANS and all are welcome.
If you're a parent of a 4th or 5th grader, you may have questions about what your student should wear. A letter was sent home about this a couple of weeks ago, but in case it didn't make it to you, some of that information will be included here.
Collared shirts, long or short sleeved (I’d like to avoid T-shirts if possible, especially graphic tees)
Dresses/Sweaters/cardigans/etc. are acceptable for girls, but please remember to mind the dress code
I will ask boys to tuck their shirts in for the performance.
Belts are requested for boys.
Think picture day.
I'm sure that students will already have something suitable in their wardrobe. We do NOT expect you to go shopping for a new outfit.
We're looking forward to seeing you there!

Please make plans to join us as we honor Veterans on November 8th at 9:00. Our fourth and fifth grade students will be performing in this program, with the GHS choir joining us as well.
