Come see for yourself, from the summit to the sea

Mount Baker is a scant 45 miles from tidewater sea of the Puget Sound and the Salish Sea. Looking off further the Straight of Juan de Fuca transports pods of Killer Whales out to the Pacific. While the Straight of Georgia funnels cold arctic air in winter , straight into the massive vertical relief of Kulshan.

Shooting up over 10,000 vertical feet the views over the fertile flood plains of the Skagit and Fraser River Deltas that provide abundant local farm grown fruits and vegetables and some of the most diverse salmon species on the west coast. Beyond that the stunning Olympic Peninsula, Mount Olympus, Mt Rainier, and Dakobed (Glacier Peak) rise above the lower ranges.

Of course you must come see for yourself, but until then welcome to our little slice of heaven that we share with our awesome guests.

Summer Ice Climbing: Heat Wave Edition

Located here at the base of the 2nd most glaciated mountain in the lower 48, Mt Baker, we have this incredibly unique experience right here in Glacier WA.

In a typical year a 2 hour hike puts you right on the ice ready to climb for the day. Located at 5,000’ this area stays cooler but isn’t brutally alpine when the weather turns for the worst.

Conditions and access change rapidly on the lower glacier and professional risk management and terrain navigation are invaluable as climate change countries to accelerate ice mass loss in this zone.

Stay cool during the heat wave, rock climb by the sea

Did you know rock climbing next to the Salish sea at Mount Erie in anacortes can be 10-15 degrees cooler than the foothills.

Located in the San Juan islands overlooking the Puget Sound, Olympic peninsula, and the straight of Juan de fuca there just isn’t a prettier place to climb.

With drive up access and an after climb stroll along deception pass and muffins from the store, a full pnw day is with in reach.

Midsummer alpine check up

It’s prime alpine climbing season here in the north cascades of Washington. We are out climbing the classics such as Fisher Chimneys on Mount Shuksan the Squak Glacier on Mount Baker and the West Ridge of Forbidden peak. Don’t let summer slip by with out getting a ticket for the send train.

What alpine climbing season has been on your mind?

Our annual Mount Rainier summit success!

A trip that runs this smooth takes preparation, responsibility, commitment, leadership, and a solid team dynamic. These guys showed up ready for a challenge and performed amazingly. George and Jason should be proud of their hard earned reward, summiting Mount Rainier at 14,410’ isn’t a joke.

All our Mt Rainier trips are led by fully certified AMGA Alpine Guides and AMGA Mountain Guides. Come see the difference. Interested in summiting Rainier with us in July 2027? Send us a message and get on the waiting list.

This is early summer in the Cascades, onto mid summer alpine sending season. Happy 4th everyone!
