With school starting for students tomorrow, I’m thinking a lot about my former band kiddos. I’m wishing you all the best this year. I’m going to miss you goofy kids. No matter the numbers this year, you will always be the best small band in the area. Keep rockin! You all made me so proud, and I know you’ll continue to do so under new direction. Make great music, make great memories. 🎶

The 2022 Gillespie Band Program's Winter Concert will be held on Wednesday, December 7th on the BenGil stage in the gym.

The BenGil 5th grade beginning band will perform at 6:30 PM, the GMS band will perform at 7:00 PM and the GHS band will perform at 7:30 PM.

On Wednesday, October 19th, Mr. Owsley and Mr. Simon met with Sandy Riley, a representative from the Staunton municipal heritage band. They offered a $500 dollar scholarship to a top band senior to be given out at the awards ceremony in May. This was to promote music education as well as continued musical performance beyond high school band.

High school band parents,

Marching band starts this week, August 1st - 5th from 9-11 with our first parade on Saturday August 6th. Please refer to your marching schedule for more information or reply to this post if you have any questions.

The dress for the parade is khaki shorts, comfortable shoes, and our band T-shirt. If your student doesn't have a band t-shirt, let me know what size and I'll get you one before next Saturday.

On Friday April 8th, the GHS band performed in the IHSA music contest in Taylorville. The concert band performed for 3 judges and received a 1 rating from all 3. A 1 rating is the highest possible rating for any ensemble. Congratulations band!

The Gillespie band is holding a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament as a fundraiser. All of the information is on the flyer, but its open to anyone interested, ages 10 and up. If you or anyone you know is interested and want to throw your hat in the ring, then we'll see you in the GHS gym on April 23rd. Pay on entry.

It has been awhile since we've posted anything, but we hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe and healthy.

As of right now, the basketball games are slated to start as normal, and we will have some form of live-streamed performance in December. We will release more info on both in the coming weeks. Thank you!
