Since we are now closed, we want to make sure that local families know about other options available to them in our area. Below is a (probably incomplete) list that we hope will be helpful.
Private Programs:
1) The Montessori School of Northampton, which provides a Montessori education to toddlers through 8th graders. Their middle school program is probably the most similar to ours in terms of "vibes" (and Becca will be teaching there next year!) Learn more at: https://northamptonmontessori.org/
2) North Star: Self-Directed Learning for Teens, which is a middle and high school program. Their self-directed program is less structured than ours, but several Four Winds alums have done well in their flexible and enriching environment. One of our students is transferring there next year to finish middle school. Learn more at: https://www.northstarteens.org/
3) The Academy at Charlemont, which is a private middle and high school that many of our alums have attended for high school. One current student is transferring there to finish middle school next year: https://www.charlemont.org/
4) The Hartsbrook School, which is a K-12 Waldorf school where alums have gone for high school, including a current student who will be starting high school there next year: https://www.hartsbrook.org/
5) Greenfield Center School, which is a K-8 program where we have typically gotten many middle schoolers from. None of our current students will be going there next year but they are still a good local middle school program to check out: https://centerschool.net/
Charter Schools:
1) Four Rivers Charter Public School, which is nearby and FREE, but of course being a 7-12 charter school, students are only admitted based on a lottery system. A lot of Four Winds alums have attended for high school, and some of our current students are transferring there to finish middle school: https://www.fourriverscharter.org/
2) PVPA - Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School, which is a 7-12 performing arts charter school. It is also Hattie's high school alma mater! Learn more at https://www.pvpa.org/
3) Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School, which is a K-8 charter school. One of our students will be finishing middle school there next year, and we have gotten middle school students from their program as well: https://www.hilltowncharter.org/
Home schooling and other programs:
1) One of our students will be home schooling next year as well. Some homeschooling resources include Anna Logos’s amazing homeschool program, www.falconsedu.com, as well as the Pioneer Valley Homeschoolers and Western Mass Homeschoolers pages.
2) Morse Hill Outdoor Education Center is a great summer camp and outdoor education program where we have gone on field trips many times: http://morsehill.com/
