My Safe Swimmer

What a special day for this little boy and his family. Completing the ISR program is only part of Whitman’s journey. His mother gave me permission to share their experience.

He drowned this past July after a malfunction of their self latching gate left the pool open to their fearless and curious little boy. His mother found him unconscious and needing CPR. Thankfully he survived and is now a miracle. This led his sweet mother to ISR lessons where I had the privilege to help him become fully skilled and a confident swimmer. He will return for 1-2 week refreshers every 4-6 months until he is ready for technique and stroke lessons at the age of 4 years old. These refreshers keep the skills mastered and confident as the body goes through developmental and physical changes every 4-6 months.
Please check your gates and locks on doors because of it could happen to this family it could happen to anyone. They are amazing parents who went through one of the most traumatic experience that thankfully didn’t end in a tragedy.

Please keep your child safe by constantly watching them around water and find an ISR instructor. Don’t forget to reach out for regular maintenance and refresher lessons.

ISR third year 2 year old swimmer! Babies and toddlers need refresher lessons every 4-6 months until they are ready for stroke and technique lessons which is usually at the age of four to six years old. It’s imperative to children who are constantly changing both physically and developmentally to refresh skills needed for swimming, self-rescue and floating. This little guy has many hours of swimming not only in lessons but playing in this fun pool! He understands that rest is needed and respects the float while swimming when he has the energy to get to the step. Beautiful!

It’s hard not to be passionate about teaching babies to swim, float, or problem solve in the water! Look at these faces… so incredibly special each and every one of them this past week. Yes, this is one week and next week will bring more happy little faces and problem solvers.
The first time a little one learns to rollover, float by themselves, smile and realize that swimming is fun, or becomes fully skilled even if it was challenging to learn, is such a joy to me! It never gets old witnessing babies accomplish such an important skill that all little ones need. I wanted to give everyone just a glimpse of the miracles I get to work with each week! Thank you to the sweet families who trust me to teach and love their baby. I hope they know just how very much I love teaching and humbly feel it a privilege. I never take it for granted and know what a gift it is.
