On this Monday morning, I am thinking about the many people who have made a difference in my life.
Our KeyBox theme this year is "My Hands Can Make a Difference."
Our focus has been on helping students recognize the difference they can make in the world by using their time and talents to help others. In line with that theme, we want them to also recognize and appreciate the people who have made a difference in their lives.
As students have been working hard over the last couple of months, we have encouraged them to consider inviting people to this recital whom they would like to honor for making a difference in their lives.
I'm starting the week off with gratitude for the unlimited number of chairs I would need to set up in order to thank the many people in this world who have been influential in my life.
It's a great way to start the week!

Over the past few weeks, we have been helping all of our students find new music to work on.
Something most people wouldn't know about KeyBox is that every year, we make a significant investment towards building our studio library with studio-licensed music that ALL of our students can learn and enjoy.
David chose the piece “Shadow Dance” by Susan Staples Bell. After playing it for a few minutes, he said, “Ms. Tiffani…this is the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.”
I wish typed words could fully express the message conveyed through the tone of his voice. He was emotional, tender, connected, and clearly moved. He felt the power of the music he was making.
Music IS powerful. It’s miraculous to witness how black dots on a page can pierce someone’s heart and soul.
David loves this piece and he will be performing it at the upcoming recital on February 28th.
At KeyBox, choosing music is like choosing candy from the candy store. There's something for every body and we love seeing students enjoy the flavor that they picked.

Today we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. and recognize his love and appreciation for music.
May we be more kind, more aware, and more empathetic. May we turn more to music to "calm the agitations of the soul", find solace and to be refrehed.
We agree with Martin Luther King that music is "one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us."
