Today, I celebrate my daughters on International Women's Day—my heroes. Each day, they teach me authenticity, strength, and courage. They are the future, on their journey with purpose and grace.

To my daughters: you embody love, compassion, and courage. Here's to them and all the incredible women out there.

As a parent, society tells us that we need to have rules for our kids.

These might look like:
🟡 You can only have X amount of time on your phone
🟡 You need to be home by 11pm or else your in trouble
🟡 You can’t hang out with “this” person

What if I told you that these “rules” are a reflection of your own fears and NEED to have control. Your fears might be that
1️⃣ your child will fall into the wrong group.
2️⃣ They won’t keep their grades up. Or,
3️⃣ you don’t know what else to do to keep your teen “in line” and listening to their authority.

When we put rules and restrictions on our teens without asking for their input, teens feel like they don't have a choice and are more tempted to break the rules. Thus you are more out of control than you were before. 🆘

The best thing to do to regain “control” again is to ⭐let go⭐ And begin to rewrite your relationship with your teen. This starts by rebuilding trust one step at a time and allowing them more responsibility.
