Peer support is an important part of Hushabye’s model.

Our peer support team helps parents feel seen, encouraged, and less alone. They offer connection, hope, and practical support from a place of lived experience and compassion.

For many families, that relationship can make it easier to ask questions, keep appointments, stay engaged, and believe that change is possible.

At Hushabye, families are not defined by the hardest part of their story. They are supported as they build the next chapter.

“Substance exposed” means a baby was exposed to certain substances before birth. It does not define the baby, and it does not define the parent.

Some babies may need extra support after delivery, especially with feeding, sleeping, and being comforted. The right care can make a meaningful difference for both baby and caregiver.

At Hushabye, families are met with compassion, not judgment, so they can receive the support they need as early as possible.

In a traditional NICU setting, most babies experiencing withdrawal are treated with morphine.

At Hushabye, far fewer need medication.

A calm environment, low stimulation, and active parent involvement help babies regulate and heal with less reliance on medication.

“Hushabye gave me a chance to be a healthy, strong, and independent mother. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the wonderful employees at Hushabye. Everyone continues to go above and beyond for me and my child. All the times I wanted to give up, they helped me push through.”

This is what compassionate, consistent care can do. It creates space for parents to grow, stay connected to their babies, and move forward with confidence. 💛

For many families, leaving the nursery is just one step in the journey.

Hushabye’s outpatient services help families stay connected through case management, peer support, parenting education, behavioral health support, and referrals to community resources.

We know the postpartum season can be overwhelming, especially for parents navigating recovery, infant care, appointments, and everyday life.

That is why Hushabye continues walking with families after baby goes home.

NAS stands for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. It can happen when a baby is exposed to certain substances before birth and experiences withdrawal after delivery.

For a newborn, withdrawal may look like trouble sleeping, feeding challenges, fussiness, tremors, or difficulty being comforted. These babies are not “bad” or “difficult.” Their bodies are working hard, and they need specialized care, patience, and comfort.

At Hushabye, babies receive compassionate, evidence-based care in a calm environment designed to help them heal.

Breastfeeding is more than nutrition. It can play a role in how babies experience withdrawal.

Babies who are breastfed while their moms are in treatment often have less severe symptoms, may need less medication, and can have shorter hospital stays.

At Hushabye, we support safe, informed breastfeeding because it can be part of how babies heal and how moms stay connected in their recovery.

She came in unsure, overwhelmed, and not knowing what was ahead.

Through consistent support, education, and care, she began to rebuild trust in herself and her ability to care for her baby.

Today, she’s the one calming her baby. Feeding her baby. Meeting her baby’s needs with confidence and consistency.

At Hushabye Nursery, this is what we work toward every day.

This is recovery.

At Hushabye, parent education is woven into everything we do.

Families learn practical skills like safe sleep, feeding, soothing, infant cues, diapering, bonding, and how to support a baby who may be experiencing withdrawal.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is confidence.

When parents feel supported and equipped, babies benefit. Families leave with more than information. They leave with tools they can use at home.

Healing does not always look loud, busy, or clinical.

For babies experiencing withdrawal, the environment matters. Too much noise, bright light, or activity can be overwhelming for their little bodies. A calm, low-stimulation space helps babies feel safe, rest more comfortably, and receive the support they need.

At Hushabye, calm is part of the care. From the lighting to the sounds to the way babies are held and comforted, every detail is designed to support healing.
