Today we wear orange to remember Indigenous children who were taken from their families and communities and sent to boarding schools in the United States and Canada. These schools separated children from their families, cultures, languages, and communities.

The orange shirt became a symbol of remembrance after Phyllis Webstad shared her experience of having her new orange shirt taken from her when she arrived at a residential school in Canada.

Today, wearing orange is a way to remember, learn, and show that every child matters.

Thank you, Falcons, for helping us recognize this important history and honor Indigenous children, families, and communities.
