All eyes were glued to our good friend, Angie, this morning. This aspiring gardener had us all chuckling along with anecdotes of her (not so green) green thumb. Great speech, Angie!

If you’re curious about our club, we’d love to have you as a guest. Join us Thursdays at 8am for laughs, friendship, and a supportive environment.

Impromptu speaking doesn't have to be terrifying. With Toastmasters, it can be HILARIOUS!

Come and see for yourself. Be our guest next Thursday at Waypoint Church on the Key Peninsula @ 8AM!

03/24/2023

Congratulations to William for completing Level 3 of his Presentation Mastery pathway! 🥳 He knows how to rock the Toastmaster world.

03/24/2023

Congratulations to JoAnn for completing Level 1 in two different Pathways! (Pathways is the Toastmasters curriculum with different themes and focuses.) We love to celebrate our club member's achievements. 🥳

02/05/2023

During this week's meeting, our Club President, David, presented Ann with an award for completing a level of our Pathways curriculum. Way to go, Ann!

Our meeting theme was "Groundhog Day," and we had a wonderful speech by JoAnn entitled, "Wax On Wax Off."

Come visit us! We meet every Thursday morning at 8am at Waypoint Church North. Hope to see you there.

01/20/2023

Here at Toastmasters we like to find reasons to celebrate, and during today's meeting, we did just that! We inducted two new members, Steve Squared. 😁

Congratulations to Steve and Steve for joining the Center of the Universe. We are thrilled to have you be apart of our club, and we're looking forward to your contributions and friendship.

Come visit us next Thursday morning at 8am at Waypoint Church to see what "soggy" fun we'll celebrate next.

Toastmasters isn't just a communication and leadership club. It's an amazing group of people that also supports its members in their various pursuits outside of the club. Today a group of us were honored to attend our Vice President of Membership, William Michael Paul's, premiere of his film, Kola. This beautiful and emotional short film was inspired by William's Lakota grandmother, Unci, and is based off real events in his life.

We're so proud of you, William!

12/20/2022

We're skipping the meeting this week due to the weather. Stay safe and warm! 🥶 Happy Holidays, and we'll see you next Thursday, December 29th at 8am at Waypoint Church.

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 12/11/2022

This week's meeting theme was "Christmas Reflections" and our Toastmaster of the Day, David, gave us plenty to think about and reflect upon as this year wraps up and another one begins. It's important to think about goals and self improvement. Absolutely fantastic speech by JoAnn - she told us the story of a Midsummer Night in Iowa and the lightening bugs.

We learned the four stages of Santa in a man's life by our Table Topics Master, William: 1. They believe in Santa. 2. They don't believe in Santa. 3. They are Santa. 4. They look like Santa. 🤣🎅

Join us next Thursday at 8am at WayPoint Church in the northern KP for more shenanigan's.

Happy ! We're honored to have several veterans, including Frank, Dolores, William, and Angie in our club. "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude." 🇺🇲

Yesterday's Meeting Theme: Black Cats and Halloween Party
Word of the Day: Superstitious

This meeting was one of the best! Our Toastmaster of the Day, Ann, went all out with a cat costume, cat themed cupcakes she baked herself, and black cat goodie bags to spread the spirit of the season! Mister G gave an excellent speech about the science of nutrition. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed the company of our esteemed guest and Area Director, JoAnna.

We hope to see you next Thursday morning at 8am at WayPoint Church.

09/07/2022

This week's meeting theme: Throwback Thursday
Word of the Day: Nostalgia

We had too much fun as always! Club VP of Public Relations, Christina, delivered a speech on how to be a better speech evaluator. Anyone can be a good evaluator when they put their mind to it. Toastmaster of the Day, JoAnn, taught us how to be groovy! She entered the lectern with style and music to make things extra fun. as well as dressed up for the occasion! (you can't beat pink bell bottoms and a headband.)

We hope to see you next Thursday morning at 8am at Waypoint Church. Guests always welcome, and the ☕️ is always hot! oxox

Thursday's Meeting Theme: National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!
Word of the Day: Yummy
Today's Guest: Steve

What a blast this meeting was! We celebrated the day with chocolate chip cookies and lots of yummy sweet treats because of our three birthday ladies. JoAnn's Table Topics session was super fun because she gave people unusual kitchen gadgets, and they had to guess what they were. Renee gave an informative speech with a Q&A session about our club's goals, direction, and new member orientation. We are an unstoppable group!

Please join us Thursday morning at 8am at WayPoint Church.

08/05/2022

Today's Meeting Theme: Celebrate Every Day
Word of the Day: Expectation
Today's Guests: John, Brian, and Steve

Our Toastmaster of the Day, Ann, encouraged us to celebrate each and every day, and we did just this with coffee, candy, and fun decorations. Angie gave an excellent speech about her experience with leading a volunteer organization. Adison was an overachieving Table Topics Master by making sure he used the word of the day the most! This was a super enjoyable meeting, and we enjoyed the company of our guests.

Please join us next Thursday morning at 8am at WayPoint Church.

07/20/2022

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will not be having our meeting on Thursday, July 21st, as the facilities we use for meetings will be in use for Waypoint's VBS week. We hope to see you next Thursday, July 28th at 8am for ☕️ and fun!

Last week's meeting theme: Summer is here
Word of the Day: Moot

This meeting was fantastic in every sense of the word. Adison gave his first speech (what we call the ice breaker) and received a standing ovation! He told us about his early running days and how those have morphed into how he is currently running today. The touching story about the water bottle brought tears to our eyes (you just had to be there!) As usual, we all had too much fun, and we were happy to share it with our two guests, Nicole and Gwen.

We don't have a meeting tomorrow so we hope to see you next week on July 28th at Waypoint Church.

07/13/2022

This is a friendly reminder that our next meeting is tomorrow morning at 8am at Waypoint Church in Key Peninsula North. We hope to see you there! Come enjoy some ☕️ and friendship.

Today's meeting theme: Salute to Chocolate!
Word of the Day: Delectable

In honor of we enjoyed delectable chocolate in many forms this morning. Sometimes well laid plans don't work out, but that is just an opportunity for teamwork! We didn't have a speaker today, and Frank stepped up to give an impromptu speech. He entitled it "Speech: How to Win the Speaker of the Day" then he gave a six minute speech by complementing everyone. That is definitely one way to win speaker of the day. 🤣 Adison was grammarian for the first time today, and he didn't have a word of the day! 😳 So he drank coffee while Renee and David picked a word and printed it moments before the meeting started. Now that is delectable teamwork!

The meeting was enjoyable and delectable in many ways. We hope to see you next Thursday morning at 8am for more shenanigans.

Reminder: We're meeting tomorrow morning at 8am. We hope to see you there! Come for the ☕️ and leave with friendship! 🧍‍♀️🧍🧍‍♂️

What good has Toastmasters done for you or someone you know?

Toastmasters International - 07/02/2022

Tired of meetings that should've been an email? Here's an article that explains the value of storytelling in professional communication.

"Whether you’re making a presentation, interviewing for a job, or trying to motivate your employees, here are some ways you can optimize business stories."

Toastmasters International - It’s 8:30 p.m. You’re staring at your laptop, struggling with the third bullet point on the sixth slide for your quarterly results presentation the next morning, when you feel a tug on your T-shirt.

Yesterday's meeting theme: Independence Day 1776
Word of the Day: "Serendipity"
Guests: Frank and Lisa

Our club celebrated our freedom at yesterday's meeting! Our Toastmaster of the Day, William, took the extra time and thought to decorate our tables to match the theme. David gave a motivating speech about upcoming goals for our club. He even coined the term "speeching" (and we haven't yet decided whether that's good or bad.) 😂

Today is the first day of the Toastmaster year, and each year, Frank has the tradition of hand making a wooden gavel for the new President. Below you can see Frank presenting our new Club President, David, with his Thor gavel. ⚡️

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed every minute of it. Won't you join us next Thursday morning at 8am? We hope to see you there!

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 06/09/2022

Today's Meeting Theme: The Gift of an Ordinary Day. Our Toastmaster of the Day, Ann, decorated our tables to make our ordinary meeting just a little more special. She had us pondering such things as "Where are the pictures of ordinary days?" and "The ordinary days are the ones that stick out the most."

David gave an insightful speech about the home buying process, and Angie provided a thoughtful speech evaluation. Renee asked hilarious Table Topics questions. The most memorable answer came from JoAnn, when she told us about her day on a garbage truck as a rat. 🤣

We meet every Thursday morning at 8am at WayPoint Church. We hope to see you next week!

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 06/03/2022

Yesterday's meeting was an ADVENTURE! Nicole was Toastmaster of the Day for the first time, and she was amazing. William blessed us with a speech about Pow Wows. It was nice to see our Club President, Renee, back after another tour of the Honor Flight.

The favorite Table Topics question of the day was,"Tell us about the week you spent at Vegan Land." David had the room rolling with laughter with his answer.

Come join our shenanigans next Thursday at 8am at WayPoint Church.

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 05/26/2022

Today's meeting was whimsical and so much fun! The meeting theme was "Permission to Play" and everyone had the chance to blow bubbles and play with playdoh because sometimes you need to take a break from being a serious adult. Great speech by Frank! We loved that he dressed up to match his speech about forestry. He ended it with the perfect pun: May the Forest Be With You. 🤣

Come join us next Thursday morning at 8am at WayPoint Church. Guests are encouraged to attend!

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 05/19/2022

When the meeting theme (The Chatterbox Within), the Word of the Day "Clutter," and the speech "Plant Killer or Life Lesson" all coordinate, there is a special magic that brings the meeting to a whole new level of fun and amazement. We were blessed with four guests today: Mark, Liz, Frank, and Adison. It was so great to see them, and they all provided excellent answers to our improv portion of the meeting called "Table Topics."

Christina brought in a Venus Fly Trap Akai Ryu (Red Dragon) plant as a captivating prop to prove that when you are down about something in your life not going as planned, just think of this slightly sad looking goth plant so you remember not to lose hope. Sometimes the environment isn't ready yet, or the gardener (aka: you) needs to do some growing first, or maybe the plant (problem, dream, desire) needs the right nutrients and some time.

We hope to see you next week at 8am Thursday morning at Way Point Church for more fun.

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 05/12/2022

Such a fun meeting this morning with the theme "Aha Moments!" We shared a wonderful hour with three guests, Adison, Lisa, and Mark. Angie gave an informative speech about resumes, and Dee gave us some challenging Table Topics Questions to keep our improv skills in top shape. Come see us next week at 8am at Waypoint Church.

We had an enjoyable time today at the Livable Community Fair! We met a lot of new people, and we can't wait for them to join us at future meetings. Some of our Toastmasters are involved in other organizations, such as the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor North and the KP Citizens Against Crime. We meet every Thursday morning at 8am at Waypoint Church. Guests are encouraged to attend, and we don't make you participate if you don't want to. 😉

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 05/05/2022

Today's meeting was inspiring! Dee did a great job running the meeting with the theme "The other Washington - So much to experience." Delightful Table Topics by Nicole. William gave an amazing speech entitled, "Myth and Legends of the Lakota People" He dressed up, spoke in his Native Tongue, brought sage, and even played a short song on the flute that came from his heart. He has such a way with storytelling that we felt like we were immersed in his story realm.

We had an honored guest today, Adison Richards for State Rep. Thank you for visiting us, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Come visit us next Thursday morning at 8am at Waypoint Church in Gig Harbor. Don't forget: we will have a booth at the Key Peninsula Civic Center's Livable Community Fair this Saturday inside the gym.

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 04/14/2022

Wonderful meeting this morning! Esteemed guest, Area Director, Joanna, joined us. It's always great to see her! Our meeting focused on Club Officer Succession, and how it is important to plan ahead for the club's success as well as challenge yourself to take on a leadership role. Join us next Thursday at 8am as we resume our normal, fun shenanigans at WayPoint Church.

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 04/01/2022

What an excellent meeting today! The meeting theme was "Be Excellent While You Wait" Our Speaker, William, not only brought everyone a rose to remind us that every life has its thorns, but if you look up you will soon bloom again, but he also performed a song on his saxophone for us. Such a treat! You never know what you'll get when you attend one of our weekly meetings.

We also enjoyed two wonderful guests, Nicole and Mrs. Shirley. We hope to see you both again soon.

Photos from Key Peninsula Toastmasters's post 03/17/2022

Great day of the group coming together and supporting and inspiring! Ann Campy reminded us how important it is to dream and dream big, David Smith as our Toastmaster got us thinking out our future and preparing, Brother William ensured that we tapped into our Irish souls and Angie and Frank inspired us with their creativity and humor. Join us next Thursday at 0800 at Waypoint Church and see what Toastmasters is all about!!

Every Toastmaster’s Journey Begins With A Single Speech

The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
