Swift Water Elementary School

Swift Water's 5th grade took a field trip to JA Biztown. JA Biztown is an interactive simulated town. It encompasses essential elements of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Students operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks and anchor a local television station. Our students were able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Thank you to all the parents, teachers and to everyone at Biztown for the awesome experience!

This week is spirit week! 🦭 ❄️

Our 3rd grade students learned computer science this week through Hour of Code. Hour of Code is a program that uses tutorials to show that everyone can learn the basics of computer coding. Our students rocked it! Way to go 3rd grade!

Our Seals only had one recess today but they built a school of snow people. Working together was the key! Nice job Seals!

As we prepare for winter break, we want to express our gratitude for everyone who makes it possible for our students to come to school every day, on time, ready to learn.

We especially appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra days before or after winter break. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and leave your child behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it is in high school. Please make sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning.

We appreciate each one of you so much, and look forward to seeing you after winter break.

Due to winter weather conditions, Peninsula School District school will start 2 hours late tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 5. Buses will run on emergency snow routes and there will be no out of district transportation.

Even with just a little bit of snow, our seals were able to make a couple snowmen at recess today.

Due to an abundance of caution, PSD schools will be 2 hours late today, Thursday, December 1.

We will see you at 11:00.

Third - Fifth graders made Dewey Decimal Parade Balloons based on non-fiction books this week in Library! Great job being creative with the balloon and their pilots! 🎈

Getting ready for our Veteran’s Day Performance this evening at 6:30!

Today is Election Day! Don't forget to vote everyone!

Swift Water is proud to announce that we will be having a Veteran's Day Performance on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 pm. Our first and third grades will be performing along with our Swift Water Singers. We hope that you are able to join us as we celebrate our Veterans.

Swift Water will be having their picture retake day on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 9:00 - 11:30 am. If your student needs retakes, please send them to school with their picture packet. If your student was absent on Picture Day and you would like to order please go to mydorian.com to do so. Please let your teacher know that your student needs retakes.

Don't forget that Daylight Saving Time ends tonight. Set your clocks back one hour. Enjoy your extra hour of sleep!

Swift Water students worked hard collecting food to donate to the Fish Food Bank. Students competed for a Pizza Party (for the class with the most donations) and a Comfy Day (for the grade level with the most donations). Mrs. HansonSmith's class won the Pizza Party with 763 items donated and 5th grade won the Comfy Day with 1540 items donated.

October 16-22 is School Bus Safety Week, and we are celebrating all of our Transportation Department staff!

Peninsula School District’s Transportation Department employes school bus drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, a driver trainer, office staff, a director, and a supervisor. Our staff works together to keep our students safe traveling to and from school and other activities.

Please join us in thanking all of our Transportation Staff across the district. We appreciate you!

Our 4th and 5th grade students participated in an Egg Drop! over 60 eggs survived the fall. Way to go guys!

This week is Nutrition Services Staff Recognition Week and we want to recognize Miss Tina and Miss Wendy for always being kind, energetic, funny and just plain amazing! You both help make Swift Water an amazing place!

It's National Principals Month and PSD has the best! Big shout out to our very own Mr. Brooks who is the best of the best!!! We couldn't do it without you!

Do you know what October 3 - 7 is? It's School Custodian Week and Swift Water has the best ever! Thank you Dan, Matt and Jeff for keeping our school spotless and always being willing to help out during the day. We are lucky that you chose Swift Water!

Picture Day is Thursday, Sept. 29. Picture Envelopes will be sent home today. To order, send your students completed order form to school on Thursday, Sept. 29 with payment or pay online with the QR code on the top of the envelope. We can't wait to see those smiles!

This week, Peninsula School District is recognizing our amazing Technical Services and IT Staff who work throughout the district to assist students, staff, and families with digital learning tools, software and hardware, and technology program access. Our IT Staff members set up new technology, provide on-site and remote support, and contribute greatly to the learning of all PSD students. Thank you!
