Beta Club held its annual 2026 - 2027 induction ceremony on September 28. This year's ceremony inducted 25 new members into Beta Club. Inductees of Beta club are required to have a 3.5 GPA and take at least one advanced, honors, Advanced Placement (AP), dual credit of dual enrollment class. Once a member of Beta Club, students also complete community service projects, such as volunteering with Relay for Life, raising money for Giddings Animal Shelter, baking goods for local law enforcement officers and participating in Academic UIL events. The induction ceremony was led by Allyson Dowell (President), Case Adams (Vice President), Naomy Laris (Secretary) and Tyler Royal (Treasurer) along with Alisson Laris representing the returning members and Sadie Locke representing the inductees. The guest speaker at the ceremony was 2017 Giddings High School graduate and Beta member Elijah Hendrix and the meal was catered by 77 Smokehouse.

Parents & Guardians, Please take a few minutes to complete the income survey form as soon as possible. This may seem like just another form we are asking you to complete, but it is vitally important to our school district.

You may wonder why this information is so important, especially since Giddings ISD participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows every student to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost, regardless of family income. There are two important reasons we need every family to complete the survey:

1. It helps us identify students who may qualify for valuable services and support programs.

2. It helps ensure Giddings ISD receives all of the state and federal funding our district is entitled to receive. These dollars directly support our students, classrooms, and schools.

Since joining the CEP program, the number of completed income surveys returned by families has steadily declined. This has resulted in a loss of state and federal funding and has had real consequences for our district.

We estimate that last year alone our district missed out on approximately $400,000 in funding because families did not complete the income survey forms or return them to school. As a result, we have had to:

• Reduce staff, resulting in fewer support staff and larger class sizes in some areas;

• Reduce classroom and program budgets for supplies and materials; and

• Reduce some student travel opportunities and educational field trips.

If this trend continues, we may be forced to make even more difficult decisions, including eliminating some student programs and cutting additional teaching and support staff positions.

Please understand, if we do not receive enough completed income surveys this year, Giddings ISD will no longer be able to participate in the CEP program that allows all students to eat lunch and breakfast at no cost.

We understand that some families may feel uncomfortable providing income information. Please know that your privacy is important to us. Information provided on the survey is kept strictly confidential and is used only to determine eligibility for meals and support services and to help our district receive the funding it is entitled to receive.

Your participation truly makes a difference. Please complete the income survey as soon as possible. It is a small action that can have a tremendous impact on our students and our schools.
