Please welcome another new teacher to our Gibsonia location, Alejandro Mijangos!

Alex Mijangos is a professional bassist, musical director, composer, arranger and educator. Growing up in a musical family, Alex started piano lessons at the early age of 7 and moved onto the electric bass a few years later. By the age of 15, Alex was already playing gigs at local venues. His dedication to music rewarded him with multiple scholarships to attend the Penn State School of Music (B.M. and M.M.) where he had the opportunity of playing with multiple jazz masters such as Eddie Palmieri, Dayna Stephens, Fabian Almazan, Emmet Cohen, Gilad Heklselman, Vardan Ovsepian, Benny Benack III, Matthew Garrison, NEA Jazz Legend Benny Golson and more.

Alex has worked professionally with great musicians such as John Fedchock, Doug Walter, Corey Wallace, Chris Rogers, Tom Kozik, Marko Marcinko, Steve Rudolph and more. He currently lives in Pittsburgh where he plays with local projects such as Abstract Theory, Big Slime, Megan Paullet and the HR Department and more. Alex will teach beginner to advanced bass guitar, acoustic guitar, beginner piano, music theory, jazz studies & group lessons.

Please welcome the newest teacher at our Gibsonia location, Phil Lamperski!

Phil started playing the guitar at age 9 and teaches students of all ages. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music from The University of Pittsburgh where he studied classical guitar with James Ferla, and was a performing member of the Carnegie Mellon Classical guitar ensemble. Phil also holds a Master of Arts degree in Music from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he studied algorithmic music and world music composition traditions.

In addition to being a musician, Phil also has worked as a Senior Sound Designer and Music Editor in the video game industry on notable titles like the Tomb Raider franchise and Marvel's Avengers. He also actively develops music technologies that facilitate and stimulate therapeutic human engagement and authorship. Phil enjoys playing music in hospital and nursing home settings and teaching others the joy of music!

Melissa McKenzie is a wife and mother of three children. She lives in Hampton Township. All of her children have taken lessons at PSA over the years. Melissa graduated from Messiah University with a B.A Degree in Family Studies. Melissa is positive and friendly. She will be happy to greet you and help you find the class or lesson that you are desiring for your child. Melissa is a strong believer in the benefits of learning music fundamentals and developing an appreciation of various art platforms.

Congratulations to our PSA Art Teacher, Mrs. Sheila Klotz on her piece “Ebb and Flow” which has been accepted into the 2026 Older Artists of Pennsylvania Showcase! Sheila’s art will hang in the East Wing Rotunda of the Capitol Building in Harrisburg this August! Congratulations Sheila!

Artist Statement: I am a Pittsburgh native self-taught artist. I am especially fond of flora, fauna, and bright happy colors. I love teaching fun art and watching my student’s excitement as they create something wonderful! I hope that my love and enthusiasm for all things art will be contagious to all I come in contact with. It will change your life!

Please welcome the latest addition to our team, Eric Huffman!

Eric Huffman has been playing guitar for over 30 years and enjoys worship, Americana, blues, rock and roll, and heavy metal. Eric has served over the years as a worship guitarist and live sound engineer at Discovery Christian Church in Mars, PA, helping support services and special events both on stage and behind the soundboard.

Eric began playing guitar at age 14 and has continued to grow as a musician through worship, live performance, collaboration, and recording. He is currently active in the worship band Doxazo, where he contributes to rehearsals, arrangements, and live worship performances. In addition to playing guitar, Eric maintains a home recording studio and enjoys audio tracking, mixing, and production. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a focus in Audio Production from Ohio University.

Eric enjoys helping beginner students build confidence through basic chords, strumming, rhythm, tone, and understanding how songs are put together. His years of volunteer work in children’s ministry and one-on-one mentorship have strengthened his heart for encouraging students and creating a patient, welcoming learning environment. Eric teaches beginner acoustic and electric guitar, works with our performance groups and in our in-house recording studio.
