Are you interested in genealogy? Visit Laurens County Library this Saturday, July 11 @ 11 am for "Digging into Land Records and Ancestral Tall Tales".
Just one of the many FREE programs offered by Georgia Public Libraries! 😁📚

Join us for Digging into Land Records and Ancestral Tall Tales on Saturday, July 11th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Georgia-based genealogist and historian, Jennifer Dunn, presents:

Land Records: The Cornerstone of Georgia Genealogy
We'll discuss Georgia's headright system and land lotteries. We'll talk about how to find out where your ancestors lived, what this can reveal, and other things you can learn about your ancestors from land records—even if they weren't landowners!

Your Ancestors are Lying to You (Here's How to Catch Them)
Sometimes the clues our ancestors leave behind only tell part of the story or obscure
the truth altogether. We'll learn the most common ancestral "lies" and how to uncover
the truth!

The library will be closed on Saturday, July 4. We will reopen Tuesday, July 7 at 9 am.

Last week we went on a Jurassic Expedition at the library! Some of our youngest and most adventurous patrons had fun learning about dinosaurs, dug for fossils and played dino-inspired carnival games! 🦖
This week be sure to stop by the library to pick up a grab and go craft to create your own patriotic pinwheel!
