Today on International Migrants Day we’re joining the statewide Day of Action demanding that Governor Shapiro end Pennsylvania’s collaboration with ICE. For too long, Pennsylvania has shared data with and helped ICE detain our neighbors. But the good news is, has the power to stop this and he needs to act now.

Salsa on the Square!
Sponsored by Project Gettysburg-León, Salsa on the Square observes the 40+ years of Gettysburg's Sister City relationship with León, Nicaragua. Join the Fiesta to celebrate the vital role Latino people play in our community.

Enjoy dancing - the first block of Carlisle Street, from Lincoln Square to the railroad tracks will be closed for the fun to take place. The dance will feature Latin music by Hector Rosado and his Orquesta A-CHE. DJ Solalinde will be on hand to play dance music between the sets and before the band begins.

There will be amazing food served by local food trucks and our friends at Tacos Monarca in their location on Carlisle Street. Food trucks will include Puerto Rican (Papa Louie's) and Taco Trap House. Waldo's and Company will be serving creative drinks and have outdoor and indoor seating for guests.

There will be plenty of other cultural expressions in addition to the music and dancing. The Gigantona, a large Nicaraguan folk doll, will again make her appearance. (See her the entire week leading up to the event at Ploughman's Taphouse.) A sawdust carpet will be constructed in the children's games area with the help of Gettysburg College students. And we are pleased to welcome back the dance group from Casa Guanajuato who will be performing traditional dances from Mexico.

We are excited to share big news: the launch of the Pennsylvania Fund for Immigrant Rights and Equity (PA FIRE)- a groundbreaking, statewide initiative to protect immigrant rights, expand vital services, and drive long-term systems change across the Commonwealth.
