What better way to get to know your new community than by getting involved in it? 🧡💙

Yesterday, members of the Class of 2030 participated in GIV Day, Gettysburg Is Volunteering, working alongside community partners throughout Adams County on projects supporting food access, education, youth programs, sustainability, and more.

For more than three decades, GIV Day has introduced first-year students to the community beyond campus and the many ways they can become involved in it.

Yesterday, the Class of 2030 participated in the First-Year Walk, retracing the historic route through Gettysburg to the National Cemetery and taking part in a tradition that connects thousands of Gettysburgians to this extraordinary place.

For generations, Convocation has been a Gettysburg tradition that formally welcomes students into the academic community and marks the beginning of a collegiate adventure.

Reminder: First-Year Walk is tonight! 🧡💙

Our newest Gettysburgians will retrace the historic path walked by students and community members in 1863 to the National Cemetery to hear President Lincoln deliver the Gettysburg Address!

Walk information:
🕡 6:30–8:30 p.m.
📍 Route: Christ Chapel → Stevens St → Carlisle St → Lincoln Square → Baltimore St → through the National Cemetery → Taneytown Road → end at the field by Meade’s Headquarters/Leister House
⚠️ Please be aware of possible traffic delays along the route.

While the First-Year Walk program is for students only, we invite the community to line the sidewalks, especially around Lincoln Square, and cheer on our newest Gettysburgians as they begin their Gettysburg journey!

Orientation is officially underway, and our newest Gettysburgians have moved in! We’re so excited to welcome them to campus.

Today, we're proud to announce the official launch of Shop 1832!

Our campus bookstore has been refreshed and reimagined, with Gettysburg College now shaping the shop directly to offer more of the apparel, merchandise, and products our community loves.

There's plenty to see, with even more coming! 👀

Inside, you will find trending Gettysburg apparel and accessories, merch from teams and programs from across campus, a dedicated Athletics corner, a reading nook featuring works by our own faculty authors, and even a mock dorm room with a little move in inspiration.

One student combined psychology and criminal justice on her way to law school. Another built a major around the philosophy of history. Their stories are a good reminder that inspiration for your education awaits where you'd least expect it!

At Gettysburg, students who can’t quite fit their interests into one major have the option to build their own. Since 2021, more than 70 students have done just that, blending fields like philosophy, psychology, history, and business into something that actually reflects who they are.
