Surrounded by farmland and quaint towns, Gettysburg Area School District serves students in a 185-square mile area that includes Gettysburg Borough, Cumberland, Highland, Franklin, Freedom and parts of Straban and Mount Joy townships. National Military Park, Gettysburg College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary are within the district. Gettysburg Area School District features three kindergartens through fifth-grade buildings, one middle school (grades 6-8) and one high school (grades 9-12). 📺 A quick programming update!

Our CBS21 interview has been rescheduled to early next week due to other coverage, and we’re looking forward to sharing more about the incredible ways our social workers and students are supporting Warriors across GASD. Stay tuned!

GASD social workers, Whitney Eby (left) and Jennifer Weigle (center right), will be featured next week on CBS21 in Back to School coverage. They'll be joined by GAHS Principal Jeremy Lusk and two GAHS seniors, who will share their experiences as members of Warrior Ambassadors and the Hope Squad.

Our dedicated social workers were all smiles this week after receiving an incredible donation of school supplies, food, hygiene products, and so much more to support our Warriors and their families throughout the school year. The donations were collected during a drive held as part of the Kiwanis Pennsylvania District Convention in Gettysburg, and we could not be more grateful for their generosity and support. ❤

✨Our Warriors are BACK!✨

The 2026-27 school year has officially begun!

From harvesting cucumbers and hands-on STEM activities to colorful creations in art class and visits with therapy dogs, our schools were buzzing with creativity, curiosity, and plenty of Warrior pride.

There were new classrooms to find, familiar faces to reunite with, new teachers to meet, and lots of first-day moments worth celebrating.

Most of all, it was great to see our schools filled with the energy of our Warriors again. A new year, a fresh start, and the first steps toward the future we’ll define together.

📚 The work behind a strong start! ☀️

As we prepare to welcome our Warriors back, members of our teaching and professional staff spent time learning, collaborating, and preparing for the school year through Summer Academy last week.

Staff explored new instructional strategies, technology, leadership practices, and other tools to support their work throughout the school year. Professional learning like this helps our district grow and ensures our staff have the resources and ideas they need to support every Warrior.

We’re grateful to the staff members who invested their time and energy in getting ready for a great new school year!

✨Monday Memory: A Great Way to Get Acquainted!

Let's look back at when our incoming sixth graders took their first steps into their next chapter with a spring visit to GAMS!

Students toured the building, met staff and current students, and got a sneak peek at what's ahead, including learning about programs and opportunities through the Adams County Technical Institute.

Tonight, we'll welcome our sixth graders and their families for Sixth Grade Back to School Night and Orientation from 6 to 8 p.m. at GAMS. We're ready to kick off the school year and get this new adventure started!

Also tonight:
🍎 New Student Orientation: 5-6 p.m. at all three elementary schools
✏ Kindergarten Orientation: 6-7:30 p.m. at all three elementary schools

🚍All aboard! The 2026-27 school year is almost here!

Our bus drivers met last week to prepare for a new school year, and they're excited to hit the road once again on Wednesday, August 19!

With the first day just THREE days away, we're sharing an important reminder to help keep our Warriors safe.

Please be extra cautious around school buses. It's against the law to pass a stopped school bus.

🚦Yellow lights: Slow down and prepare to stop.
🔴Red lights and extended stop arm: Stop. Remain stopped until the bus moves again.

Let's work together to keep our Warriors safe as they roll into a new school year.
