🧁 Get ready for a sweet showdown! Join us for the 4-H Cupcake Wars Contest hosted by the South Central 4-H region, where creativity meets frosting. Teams of 2–4 members will design cupcakes based on the theme: Red, White & Blue! This contest is intended to be fun for all 4-H’ers and allow their creativity and skills to be admired by all.
📅 Event Details:
Check in will be from 10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and the contest will be held from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at the Adams County Ag & Natural Resource Center, 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Pre-registration is required by March 20, 2026. Your ZSuite account must be listed as active status to be able to register.
Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch, light refreshments will be provided.
There is a $5 per member fee to participate, payable at the time of registration by credit card or by mailing a check made payable to Penn State University to Penn State Extension-Adams County, Attn: South Central
4-H Cupcake Wars, 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Suite 204, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
Payment must be received or postmarked within 5 days of submitting your registration for your registration to be considered complete and your spot be held.
🍰 Contest Categories (Choose One)
Traditional: 12–24 cupcakes, same or united by theme
Pull-Apart: 12–48 cupcakes creatively combined
(Standard size cupcakes only)
Age Divisions (as of Jan 1, 2026)
Cloverbuds: 5–7
Juniors: 8–12
Seniors: 13–18
Teams are based on oldest member. Cloverbuds cannot team with older members.
📝 Contest Rules & Judging
Contestants MUST bring undecorated cupcakes, frosting, and desired toppings.
Limited decorating supplies provided—bring your own for best results!
(Hint: Pre-filled bags = time advantage 😊)
Time Limit: 2 hours (includes clean-up)
Judging Criteria: Participants can view the scoring rubric attached to the event or find it in the cloverlink folder here.
🏅 Awards:
Each team will receive a Blue, Red, or White ribbon depending on their total score. The teams in each Junior and Senior division who place 1st , 2nd, and 3rd will receive upgraded prizes. Cloverbuds will all receive Cloverbud ribbons and a positive comment card for their creations.
Blue Ribbon: 23–30 pts
Red Ribbon: 15–22 pts
White Ribbon: 14 & below
