🥋 MODERN ARNIS TIP OF THE WEEK

DON’T CHASE THE STICK. CONTROL THE PERSON HOLDING IT.

One of the easiest traps in Modern Arnis is becoming so focused on the weapon that you forget there’s a person attached to it.

The stick is only one part of the equation.

👉 Control the weapon line.
👉 Control the hand.
👉 Control the balance.
👉 Then control the opponent.

A flashy disarm means very little if the other person can immediately punch you, grab you, counter, or simply recover the weapon.

That’s why good Modern Arnis isn’t about collecting cool disarms.
It’s about control.

The stick is the problem you see. The person is the problem you need to solve.

Train smart. Train with purpose. Keep the Arnis alive. 🇵🇭

Here's an old video that shows how to do Professor Presas' modified casting strike after blocking a forehand strike (can also do it after your backhand strike is blocked). You should use the full power of your hips to cast (or throw) their stick hand across to the side and to fully unwind your full-power backhand strike. It's not just a push and then arm-strike. The force of the cast should steal their balance and make head/neck jerk. Be careful!
