INTERN INSIGHTS hears today from Thomas Geuther ’29, who worked on campus this summer in Musselman Library Special Collections & College Archives. Says Thomas, “My position has offered me a wide range of experiences, spanning from the process of archiving rare collections coming into Gettysburg College's possession to practicing book conservation and cataloguing. Coming from a background filled with passion for research and interpretation of material culture, I thoroughly enjoyed putting some of my prior experience and new skills I have learned on the job to use in the pursuit of a more documented and accessible pathway for educationally and historically valuable collections. One particular moment I enjoyed at Special Collections this summer was being able to physically repair a rare book from Gettysburg College's collection, taking different tools and conservation practices to return my selected book back to a secure and readable state.”
