Ready to kick off middle school?
Rising 6th graders are invited to join us for HMS Summit on July 24 from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. This student-only event is designed to help incoming Mustangs feel confident, connected, and excited about the year ahead. Students will meet staff and administrators, participate in fun activities, enjoy a chilled treat, and get answers to their questions before the first day of school.
Parents, think of this as a practice run for middle school independence. Drop them off, enjoy a few kid-free hours, and we’ll have them ready for pickup at noon.
Registration link is in the comments!

Give your rising 6th grader a head start on middle school math this summer.
Houston Middle School Math Camp is a great opportunity for students to build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and get comfortable with the expectations of middle school math before the first day of school. Mrs. Gunnell and Mrs. Timmerman will guide students through engaging activities designed to help them feel prepared, capable, and ready for a successful transition to 6th grade.
Spaces are limited, so don't wait to reserve your child's spot.

Our National Junior Honor Society students showed what Mustang leadership looks like in action at the Mid-South Food Bank!
This amazing crew created 250 food boxes, sorted 2,385 pounds of food, and helped prepare 2,862 meals for families in our community. We are so proud of these students for using their time and talents to serve others with kindness, teamwork, and heart.

Next stop: middle school
Fifth graders got a firsthand look at what’s ahead during Preview Day: touring classrooms, meeting student ambassadors, and learning all about life as a sixth grader. From questions to confidence, the future is looking bright!

There are two kinds of people in the world: the ones who walk past a problem, and the ones who pop a storm drain and fix it.
Mr. Ringo? Definitely the second kind.
When a very stressed momma duck started sounding the alarm, most of us would’ve just thought, “quack right back atcha.” Not Mr. Ringo. He paid attention, realized her brand new ducklings were trapped in the storm drain, and got to work. Grate off, plan in motion, calm under pressure, like it was just another Tuesday.
And just like that, a full family reunion. Tiny peeps, big relief, and one very grateful momma duck.
Proof that sometimes being a hero looks less like a cape and more like knowing when to step in and help… even if your audience is a bunch of very loud, very tiny critics.
We’re lucky to have people like Mr. Ringo around here.
