National Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15th to the 30th. Check out this week’s Student Spotlight, Angela Hernandez, a student at Houston High School. Angela's connection to her Hispanic heritage has led to a unique partnership with the Dixon Art Gallery. Together, they've curated an exhibition that captures the essence of a Quinceañera, a significant cultural tradition in many Hispanic communities. A Quinceañera is a grand celebration marking a young girl's transition into womanhood when she turns 15. It is a time-honored event filled with symbolic rituals, vibrant music, and elegant dances. Angela's passion for her heritage and her contribution to this exhibition offer a meaningful glimpse into the rich tapestry of Hispanic culture during this important month of recognition and celebration.

Not only did our Varsity team get the 🧹🧹🧹 tonight we also get to celebrate Coach Becky’s 650 career wins! Congratulations to team and Coach!

HMS Cross Country competed in the West Tennessee Sectional on Saturday in Collierville. Both the girls and boys varsity teams are STATE BOUND which will be held in Clarksville on September 30th. At the sectional, our boys varsity and JV teams dominated with 1st place finishes for both. The girls varsity and JV teams came in a close 2nd to West Collierville. It was a great day with many PRs. Come out and support these teams on Tuesday night at Shelby Farms as they run in the MYA Meet #2. Boys race at 5:10 followed by girls at 5:40.

Houston High was buzzing with energy as hundreds of visitors joined us to kick off Homecoming Week at ! 🎉 What makes it even more amazing? It was all planned and executed by our incredible students! 🙌👏 Houston High School

From thrilling games to food trucks, and music to unforgettable memories, this event had it all. 🎶🍔🕺 Thanks to our talented student organizers, who created a fantastic atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

Congratulations! Houston High placed 2nd in the Memphis University School Academic Tournament on Saturday, September 23, 2023. This was out of approximately 30 teams competing in the event. Representing Houston were Ravindu Wijeratne, Owen Johnsen, Kai Powis-Dow, Kyle Jolly, and Christian Santopuoli.
This is another great example of community support for GEF and the Run for Education at work. The Knowledge Bowl team received a $6,000 grant from the Germantown Education Foundation for equipment and other supplies that enhance the learning environment and competitive opportunities. Additional units will be used in HHS hosted at the "Battle of the Brains" on November 4, 2023.

HHS StangFest Homecoming Event Our Student Government Association wants to do something new and something BIG. As a way to kickoff 2023 Homecoming we are inviting the entire community to join us for some family fun.

This year’s Christian Brothers University STEM competition was a HUGE success! The Houston Mustangs took home three wins: 1st place Geo Wall Competition, 1st place K’NEX Bridge competition, and 2nd place K’NEX Bridge competition.

Did you know that our GOAL Germantown Online Academy of Learning students are not just experts in virtual learning but also have some SERIOUSLY cool hobbies?! 🎓🌐

Case in point: Meet Dominic Hobbs! 🐍🏆 He's not your average student because he has a passion for something quite unusual... capturing snakes! 🤯🐍

And guess what?! 🥳🤩 Dominic and his dad just made headlines by winning the Florida Python Contest and taking home a whopping $10,000 prize for capturing the most pythons! 🎉💰 Talk about talent! 🌟👏

So, here's the big question: Are YOU brave enough to catch snakes like Dominic? 🐍💪 Let's celebrate our incredible students and their unique talents! 🙌👏 🌐📚🐍✨

It is with immense pride that we announce the outstanding achievement of 15 exceptional students who have been named National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalists in the Germantown Municipal School District.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a prestigious recognition, and these students have demonstrated their exceptional abilities and dedication to academic excellence.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a highly competitive academic competition that recognizes and honors the top-performing students across the country. Semi-finalists are selected based on their exceptional scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Being named a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist is not only evidence of their intelligence, but also a reflection of their commitment to academic excellence.

In a word: Our 15 semi-finalists come from different backgrounds and bring a wealth of unique qualities to the table. Each of them has been asked to describe themselves in one word in relation to their scholarly status:

AP Testing Results for the Class of 2023 are in! September 2023 - At Germantown Municipal School District, 19 students have earned the AP Capstone Diploma. The AP Capstone Diploma program helps students develop the critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills that are crucial for academic success.
