This morning members of the Germantown Police Department were honored to be a part of Madonna Learning Center's Read Across America event. Officers read to the students, answered questions, and helped with arts and crafts!

The Individualized Education Account program application process is open! This program grants scholarships to Tennessee students with disabilities, allowing parents and students to take a portion of their tax dollars and use it on certain types of educational expenses that best meet their own unique needs.

Guess who's back in town?! That's right, Buddy (the City's Elf on the Shelf) is back for another 12 days of fun around Germantown! You can keep up with Buddy and all of his adventures for the next 12 days by following the City's social media channels.

Buddy decided to kick off his trip to Germantown with a visit to GPAC. Buddy crashed the Germantown Symphony Orchestra’s rehearsal for their upcoming holiday concert on Saturday. Buddy was able to practice his sing-along skills and we think he may have found the best seat in the house.

If you are like Buddy and want to get into the holiday spirit through music, there are some very festive performances lined up at GPAC. Here's a full list:

Madonna Learning Center, initially called "Madonna Day School", was founded in 1969 by three Benedictine Sisters from Ferdinand, Indiana. The Sisters envisioned a faith-based environment where the cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical developmental needs of children with disabilities could be realized.

This time next year, Germantown’s Municipal Park will have a new and exciting look, not to mention greater accessibility and features for residents with special needs. During Monday’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the Board unanimously voted to approve a contract with the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) Inclusive Playground and Facilities Grant in the amount of $489,435. Out of 21 applicants, Germantown was one of seven entities to receive a grant award from the DIDD. The entire cost of the project is grant funded. We are proud to mark our upcoming 50th year in the Memphis area as we celebrate our faith-based roots and groundbreaking individualized approach for our students. We currently operate the only private independent school in the Mid-South for students ages 4 through adulthood with disabilities that offers a therapeutic environment with a small student to teacher ratio.
