It’s another GREAT day at The ‘Shire! Our Annual 2022 Spelling Bee was un-BEE-lievable! Congratulations to the winners and ALL of our participants!! Our students can BEE anything and spell ANYTHING! Special shout-out to our Spelling Bee Committee for another success event! Way to go! 🦅

LAST NIGHT WAS EPIC! Every month, our faculty and staff has come together for a time of fun, fellowship, and laughter outside of our school walls! Last night, many of us gathered to see the premier of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever! WE HAD AN AMAZING TIME!!!!! Not to mention, the movie was 🔥. Let’s see what next month has in store! 😎

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and EVERY year, Germanshire celebrates in a BIG way by hosting several events. Today was Stick it to Cancer Day! Students were able to tape Principal Knapp and Mr. Cunningham to the wall to support the cause! It was a STICKY situation! 😂

We celebrate and honor all breast cancer survivors and those who are fighting. All proceeds are donated to The American Cancer Association. 💘🙏🏾

GERMANSHIRE TAKES IT TO THE POLLS! 🇺🇸
Today was Germanshire’s Student Council Election Day! Students in Grades 3-5 casted their vote for this year’s Student Council leaders! Our Eagles were so excited! We would like to give a huge, special shoutout to the Shelby County Election Commission for allowing us to use the electronic voting machines! Thank you GES Student Council Teacher Committee for exposing our students to the BEST!!! 🦅

Let’s celebrate our 2022 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Michael Taylor! 🎉🎊

Mr. Taylor is a 3rd Grade Math and Science Teacher. He has been teaching for 6 years and a part of our Germanshire family for 4 years. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Memphis and is proud a alumnus of Teach for America. Inside the classroom, Mr. Taylor is a great example of what good, first teaching should be. He propels his students to be successful in all they do.

Mr. Taylor is happily married and the father of two beautiful children. His favorite thing about Germanshire is the students he gets to serve everyday and the camaraderie shown daily by the faculty and staff of GES. He is always smiling and consistently brings a positive attitude to work. His hard work and dedication to the mission and vision of Germanshire does not go unnoticed. We celebrate you! Let’s celebrate our 2021 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Travarious Cunningham! 🎉🎊

Mr. Cunningham is a 4th Grade Math and Science Teacher. He has been teaching and at Germanshire for almost 6 years. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Memphis and his Master’s Degree from Freed-Hardeman University. If you know him, you know that he loves Germanshire Elementary! Inside the classroom, he motivates and challenges his students to realize their potential and believe in themselves, which in return yields high results every school year. Outside of the classroom, you can find him helping others, attending students’ extracurricular activities, and spending time with loved ones.

Today, we climaxed TN Ready Spirit Week with our annual “Kick it to TN Ready” Pep Rally! Students from Grades 2-5 created class chants, signs, and showed school spirit as we prepare to show what we know on TN Ready! Each grade did an AMAZING JOB and we all had so much fun! 😁👍🏾

Mrs. Buggs is one of our AWESOME 5th Grade Teachers and has been teaching at The ‘Shire for 18 years! Her hobbies include traveling, swimming, horseback riding, and anything outdoors with her family and friends. Although teaching is her passion and she displays an undeniable love for Math and Science, Mrs. Buggs says that the best part of teaching is getting her students to realize their true potential and to follow their dreams. She promotes love, peace, and community in her classroom, as that is what is most important in her life.
