Dear Mustang Families,
We are excited to begin our second full week of school! Our students have done a wonderful job during these first seven days, and we are so proud of the way they have adjusted to new routines, expectations, classrooms, and friendships. We want to continue building on this positive start and keep our Mustangs moving in the right direction!
🍫 Candy Bar Fundraiser
Tomorrow, Monday, August 24th, students will bring home a pre-sale letter with information about our upcoming candy bar fundraiser.
The fundraiser will officially kick off Thursday, August 27th, and the sale will run through September 15th.
Our school-wide goal is to profit $5,000! We are excited to see what our Mustang families can accomplish together.
More details about the fundraiser, including prizes and incentives, will be shared at a later date—so stay tuned!
💙 A Note About Morning Drop-Off
As we begin our second week, some students may experience big feelings or become emotional when arriving at school. This is completely normal as children continue adjusting to the routines and expectations of a new school year.
We encourage families to continue reinforcing your child's independence by dropping them off in the car rider line each morning or having them ride the school bus.
We know that saying goodbye can sometimes be difficult, but please trust us to have caring adults ready to support your child during this important time of transition.
Giving children the opportunity to enter school independently helps build confidence, independence, and resilience.
Your child may have a hard moment at drop-off—and then have a wonderful day. ❤️
🚗 Afternoon Car Rider Reminder
Families of afternoon car riders, please take a few minutes to talk with your student about the importance of following our afternoon dismissal procedures.
Students should:
🤫 Remain quiet in the gym so they can clearly hear announcements and their names being called.
👂 Listen carefully for their name to be called.
🏃 Move quickly and safely to their assigned number when called so they can promptly load their vehicle.
🚗 Follow the directions of staff members assisting with dismissal.
These expectations are important for everyone's safety and for keeping traffic moving smoothly. We do not want vehicles stopped or blocking traffic on Highway 8.
Thank you for talking with your child about these expectations and helping us make afternoon dismissal as safe and efficient as possible!
⭐ Character Trait Focus: Personal Responsibility
Our character trait focus for August and September is Personal Responsibility.
Personal responsibility means understanding that our choices, actions, and attitudes matter—and that we are responsible for doing our part.
We encourage you to talk with your child about what personal responsibility looks like:
🏠 At home: Taking care of belongings, completing responsibilities, and helping others.
🏫 At school: Following directions, making good choices, taking care of materials, and doing your best work.
🚌 On the school bus: Following bus expectations, listening to the driver, and helping keep everyone safe.
🤝 With others: Owning mistakes, treating people respectfully, and making choices that contribute to a positive community.
Ask your child: “What does personal responsibility look like for you?”
🌟 The Real Secrets to Academic Success
We are proud of how well our students have been doing during these first seven days, and we want to encourage them to continue down this positive path.
While academic skills are important, some of the true secrets to your child's long-term success are the skills they develop when things don't go exactly as planned.
We want our students to learn how to:
Handle frustration
Bounce back after making a mistake
Resolve conflicts
Recover from big feelings
Accept and learn from feedback
Work successfully with others
Take responsibility for their choices
These skills don't develop overnight. They are built through practice, encouragement, consistency, and opportunities to try again.
