As part of our commitment to student learning, growth and progress, campuses are administering Beginning of Year (BOY) assessments over the next few weeks to students in grades K-8. Parents can expect to hear specifics from their child’s campus, including information about when results will be shared with parents.

An exception is that students who take the STAAR Alt 2 test do not take the MAP or mClass tests and will not have results sent to parents.

Reminder: GISD offers bus transportation to students who live 2 miles or more from their campus. Where hazards exist, some stops may be within the two-mile zone. If you believe you qualify for tansportation services and haven't yet registered for bus service, please do so immediately by visiting

🚌 School starts tomorrow! As students head back to school, consider that school zones will be back in effect during arrival and dismissal times, and police will be monitoring school zones throughout the city to ensure our students arrive safely.

🛑 Watch for stopped buses, and remember that they are also required to stop at railroad crossings.

Georgetown ISD has achieved Exemplary Status in the Texas Educational Theatre Association’s (TxETA) Award of Distinction!
