🦃 Thanksgiving Assistance Sign-Ups Are Now Open!

To help streamline the process and better serve our families, the FRYSCs across the district are working together and sharing one Google Form for Thanksgiving assistance. We hope this makes the process easier for families and allows us to work together more efficiently to make sure those who need assistance are connected with support this Thanksgiving 🧡🍂

If you have students attending multiple schools, you only need to complete the form ONE time. The same form is being shared by all of our FRYSCs, so there is no need to submit multiple requests.

🦷 The dentist is coming to Southern Elementary🦷
📅 October 30-November 2, 2026

Big Smiles, a mobile dental program, will be visiting our school and providing services right inside the building! 😁

📬 Forms will be sent home this week in student backpacks!
Please fill them out and return them ASAP if you’d like your child to participate. ✍️📥

🫧 We had our first laundry day & night event of the year, last week! 🫧
Thank you to our AMAZING community partners for helping make this event possible:

️✨ Toyota's Driving Possibilities
Families were able to wash more than 2,000 pounds of laundry between the 2 events! If you have a student at Southern Elementary or Georgetown Middle, watch for DOJO posts each month from Ms. Sidney (SES) or Ms. Mercado (GMS) to get signed up!

🍩 Thank You for a Sweet Morning! 🍩

A HUGE thank you to everyone who RSVP’d and joined us for Donuts with Grownups this morning! We loved seeing so many of our families spending quality time together and making special memories before the school day began. ❤️

🍩A special thank you to Ms. Patty and the café team for being absolutely amazing and helping make sure everyone had the option to enjoy donuts at breakfast this morning. Your support helped make the morning extra special!

Our families enjoyed time together, had a quick conversation about the importance of routines, and were challenged to take what they learned home and continue working on routines as a family. And, of course, some families even made time to shop the Book Fair! 📚🍩

👀 Be on the lookout for our awesome Donut Display with Sprinkles for the rest of the month!
The question for our Sprinkle Event was: "one little routine or everyday moment we can use to connect as a family is . . ."

👀👂 Vision & Hearing Screenings! 💙

We had a great day completing vision and hearing screenings for our students last week! A huge thank you to our amazing speech paths, school nurse, and ECS students for coming to help! 🩺

And thank you to Mrs. Hatfield for keeping everyone moving quickly and smoothly through the stations!

We appreciate everyone who helped make the day a success! 🌟

Double post kind of day - but I felt both shares deserved their own post 💙

🇺🇸 Today is Patriot Day/National Day of Service & Remembrance, a day to honor and remember the lives impacted by September 11, 2001. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of this significant event.

🦺 Pairing this day with our Safety Day is always a meaningful way to connect the two and create opportunities for learning, reflection, and important conversations.

📚 I love sharing age-appropriate resources about September 11 with families because they give you an opportunity to learn and explore together; a way to learn about history while creating space for questions, curiosity, and meaningful conversations about difficult topics.

Global Game Changers (GGC) is an excellent resource and I think its really cool that they are right out of Louisville! They have a whole site dedicated to 9/11 with many activities for K-5!

Let them jump into the virtual world to be a hero on 9/11 by:

🚓 Moving traffic with NYPD
🚑 Administering first aid with EMS

🚑🚓 Safety Day at Southern Elementary was today! Our Stallions got the chance to learn about the important work our community heroes do and meet some of the amazing people who help keep us safe! They also were able to check out some really cool equipment!

🚨 SHOUTOUT to Officer Murray for arranging for the Special Response Team truck to be there, as well! It was a really cool addition to our day!

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to our amazing Specials team who made rotations to each station go smoothly 😎 Without them, days like today could not happen!
