Since joining our team, Ms. Armstrong has already made a tremendous impact. She came in ready to work, took initiative, and has been getting things handled and taken care of. She is truly a go-getter with a great work ethic and a willingness to jump in wherever she is needed.

We are excited to have her as part of our team and look forward to all she will contribute to Georgetown County First Steps.

Our very own Sherill Walker-Smith, HIPPY Supervisor for Georgetown County, is always willing to step up and help wherever she is needed—even when the support extends beyond our own county. She is truly an asset to our team: a self-starter, quick thinker, and dedicated professional who brings years of valuable work experience and education to everything she does. We are grateful to have someone who is always willing to go above and beyond to support others and strengthen the work we do.

The countdown to the opening of our 3K classrooms for the 2026–2027 school year has officially begun!

Many people will never know how hard I had to fight to ensure this program continued after seven years of proven success. Through unwavering dedication, strong partnerships with our school district, and measurable outcomes that have positively impacted children and families, we refused to give up.

Today, I’m proud to say—we made it!

Here’s to another year of preparing our youngest learners for a bright future. Thank you to everyone who believed in our mission and stood with us along the way. Thank you GCFS board for believing in me and the vision. The best is yet to come!

Georgetown County First Steps (GCFS) serves as a vital resource in our community, helping bridge educational gaps and strengthen families by ensuring children are prepared for success in school and life.

In support of our community, GCFS will host a Back-to-School Giveaway to provide household essentials and limited school supplies for children ages 4–17. As many families continue to face economic challenges and the rising costs associated with preparing children for a new school year, we are committed to helping ease that financial burden.

Through this community initiative, we hope to provide essential household items and school necessities that will support families, promote student success, and ensure children have the resources they need to begin the school year with confidence.

Together, we can strengthen families, invest in our children, and build a stronger Georgetown County community.
