It was a wonderful day working at Tyner Elementary School creating a mosaic of their school logo. Nearly every student in all grades got to make a square to contribute to making it. The mosaic totaled more than 16,600 pieces!! Thank you to Ms. Ward and Partners for Rural Impact for making it happen!

Got to go to Cawood for the last couple of days. We did the Tower Tumbler lesson and the tallest tower was 52 inches! They were an amazing group of students. We’re actually coming back in a couple of weeks for the 7th and 8th graders when they will do the zip line challenge. Can they create a car to travel down a zip line the full length of the library? Can’t wait to find out!

📅 Save the date: November 7

We got our design mock for the Brick Mobile Build Center… and we are PUMPED!

There’s something pretty special about seeing an idea that started as a dream slowly turn into something REAL. From one van and a whole lot of bricks to opening the doors to our very own Build Center… it’s honestly a little hard to put into words.

We’ve imagined this space for so long; a place where kids, families, schools, and our community can come together to discover, create, imagine, and BUILD. And now we’re getting to watch it come to life right in front of us. ❤️

There’s still plenty of work to do before those doors open, but seeing this mockup made everything feel just a little more real.

We seriously cannot wait to welcome you inside. 🥰

It’s been an amazing time at the Harlan Independent Schools elementary and middle grades. Wonderful students and wonderful staff! So thankful for Jon, Barbra, and Partners for Rural Impact for having me come.
I worked with the middle schoolers this week and they did the zip line and rubber band powered cars. The emphasis I try to make is how Lego is such a versatile material to work with that engineering challenges like these can be done very well with Lego bricks. Experimenting and modifying designs to accomplish the goal is what we do. The zip line challenge was to create a car that could safely ride down a zip line that went across the entire room. The car challenge was to modify a rubber band powered car to see how far you can make it go. The school record was 61 feet! Imagine building a car out of Legos and using a rubber band to make it go 61 feet! That’s what they did! The Green Dragons are amazing.
