Southwestern is a selective & independent four-year undergraduate national liberal arts college consisting of The Brown College of Arts and Sciences and The Sarofim School of Fine Arts. It was the first institution of higher learning in Texas, chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1840. Southwestern is located in historic Georgetown, Texas, just north of Austin, the state capital. Austin is known for its vibrant culture, live music, theatre, film, and art - an "intellectual capital" and one of the country's best places to live. Southwestern's 701-acre campus features tree-lined 100-acre central grounds and a lush, green academic mall. Our facilities include two live-performance theaters, spacious sports/ recreational areas, a human performance laboratory, an aquatic animal research laboratory, an observatory and a teaching greenhouse. More than eighty-four percent of Southwestern students live in spacious on-campus apartments or residential halls.

Big ideas, sharp strategy, and just 24 hours to make it happen.

Last week, seven Southwestern students, Asin Allavudeen, Cody Diez Jennings, Jade Cindy Foka, Alyanna Martinez, Juan Martinez Varela, Emma Sanchez, and Elias Sarwana, competed in the 2026 HSI Battle of the Brains , tackling a complex business and technology challenge in just 24 hours.

Competing against 14 other teams from universities, including the University of Houston, University of Central Florida, St. Edward's University, and Texas State University, the Pirates advanced as one of seven finalist teams and earned the highest business score in the competition!

Plus, Cody Diez Jennings received an eBay scholarship, marking the second consecutive year a Southwestern student has earned the honor.

🏴‍☠️ 🏀 🏐 Southwestern University’s home gym is about to get a makeover! The University has received an anonymous $1.25 million gift for renovations to the competition gym and lobby of the Corbin J. Robertson Center, home to the Southwestern Pirates men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and volleyball programs.
