The U.S. News & World Report ranked Gateway College Preparatory School among the top high schools in America for 2026.

The U.S. News Best High Schools ranking include data on more than 18,000 public high schools across the country. Schools were ranked on six factors: college readiness, state assessment performance, under-served student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates. Gateway College Prep received an overall score of 88.69, ranking the Gators in the top 12% of public schools nationally and top 11% in public schools in Texas. Dear Parents,

Thank you very much for your patience today during dismissal. My staff and I have debriefed this evening and have the following update for you regarding Sibling Pick Up. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BELOW.

1. Starting tomorrow (8/19/26), Elementary students will STILL go to the cafeteria at 3:05pm.
2. Older siblings (grades 5-12) will pick up their younger (Elementary) siblings at 3:50pm from the cafeteria.
3. The sibling pairs and groups will walk across the courtyard to the gym JUST LIKE LAST YEAR. Mr. Chase Rickey or another staff will be there to monitor the sibling pairs.
4. Parents will park in the parking lot by the gym JUST LIKE LAST YEAR, walk over to the gym, and pick up their sibling pairs/groups.

Parents, you will be given a set of Sibling Pick Up passes tomorrow afternoon. One pass is for the outside of your younger child's backpack, one pass is for your older sibling's backpack, and the last pass is for you to show at the gym when you pick up your children.

We will continue to refine the dismissal process, but sincerely appreciate everyone who handed out water, fans, and offered umbrellas to those standing in the sun for several hours this afternoon. Thank you for your patience and support. I love being part of Gator Nation.

Gator Nation,

K-4 students in Sibling Pickup will be housed in the cafeteria from 3:05 to 3:50pm. At 3:50, their older sibling will pick them up and walk DIRECTLY through to the K-8 building to the K-8 Loop to await being picked up by their ride.

Mr. Chase Rickey will be sending more information later today through the Bright Wheel platform, but we wanted to send this as soon as we had the information. Please direct questions to [email protected].

Gateway is excited to welcome Ryan Disque back to our community as Director of Lacrosse and Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach.

Ryan returns to Gateway after a year away, bringing more than a decade of coaching experience and a track record of building strong programs. During his time at Gateway, he helped grow the high school roster from fewer than 20 to more than 60 athletes, added JV and youth teams, and launched a girls' program. He also led the team to state quarterfinals or semifinals in every season, won a district title, and helped build a culture rooted in grit, accountability, and leadership.

We are thrilled to have Coach Disque back and look forward to the leadership and momentum he will bring to Gateway Lacrosse!

Orenda Charter School District earns A rating from
Texas Education Agency for second straight year

GEORGETOWN, Texas — For the second year in a row, Orenda Charter School District earned an A from the Texas Education Agency in the 2026 Accountability Ratings.

The district's largest school, Gateway College Preparatory, scored a high A, earning five of seven campus distinctions. Kingsland School received a C, and Gateway Tech, a high school credit recovery school, received an A. Nolan Creek School in Belton earned a B for the first time in the school's 10-year history.

"Our scores are a reflection of two years of intentional hard work, centered on data-driven instruction, personalized learning plans and a relentless focus on student growth and college readiness," said Carla Silber, superintendent of Orenda Charter School District. "I am so honored to work and lead such an amazing district of educators."

Texas provides annual academic accountability ratings to its public school districts. The ratings are based on performance on state standardized tests, graduation rates, and college, career and military readiness outcomes. They examine student achievement, school progress and the closing of achievement gaps among student groups. The most recent individual district and campus data is available at TXschools.gov.
