We are definitely excited for this BIG news. Its a COOL upgrade to the Howser Beef Arena. Thank you Brown County Cattlemen's Association for making this happen along with some other updates!

Thankful we have such strong commodity associations who continue to invest in our facilities to ensure our 4-Hers have great opportunities.

🥵 Have you ever sat in the Beef Barn during a show… fanning yourself with one of those little hand fans—or maybe even your show bill—trying to catch a break from the September heat? 😅

Well, we have some COOL news! 💨🐮

The Brown County Cattlemen’s Association recently purchased and installed TWO new giant fans in the Richard Howser Show Arena to help keep exhibitors, families, spectators, and our four-legged friends a little more comfortable during the fair!

We’re excited to make this improvement to the barn and help everyone beat the heat this September. 🙌 Be sure to look up when you’re in the Beef Barn this year—you definitely won’t miss them! 👀💨

"The Ripple Effect: How financial choices shape your wellness" will be offered each Wednesday in September from noon to 12:30 EST.

There will once again be an Open Swine Show on Friday evening of the Brown County Fair. Please share with anyone who might be interested in an early fall show. The event is coordinated by our junior fair swine department.

After receiving feedback that people were having issues with the system last night and various other concerns, we decided to reopen FairEntry through Monday, August 17th, for Small Animal Fancy (Breeding) & Wildlife Animals to complete their REQUIRED Animal Entries.

This is the official tag-in process for these animals this year. All Junior Fair exhibitors in these projects must complete an entry following the process outlined in the instructions provided for each animal they are planning to exhibit. Only those animals entered by the deadline will be eligible for exhibition.

Exhibitors should use the guide at http://go.osu.edu/exhibitorletters to complete their entries.

We sent a reminder email to exhibitors earlier via the 4-H Online system.

We received feedback from 4-H'ers that, because of storm-related issues, they can't physically get to our office today to turn in their contest submissions. Based on that, we have decided to extend the deadline for the Thank You Card Contest through Monday, August 17th.

So if you were on the fence about participating, or haven't had a chance to finish yet, you have a little more time!

We do have a drop box available for submissions outside of office hours. If you choose this option, we strongly encourage you to place your entry in a waterproof container. Even a sealed gallon-size plastic bag should do the trick! This will help protect your submission from moisture, and any curious bugs that might decide paper looks like a tasty snack...

Please bring your own toiletries and towel.

Tick Borne Pathogens in the Cow Herd

This program will focus on the Asian Longhorned Tick and Theileria, their threat to the cow herd, signs and side effects producers should watch for, and precautionary measures to help protect herds from the disease.

Mineral Supplementation for the Cow Herd
by: Dr. Haley Linder | Asst Professor Dept of Animal Sciences at The
Ohio State University
Dr. Linder will discuss mineral supplementation in the cow herd, including the importance of proper nutrition, common deficiencies, and strategies to improve herd health and performance through effective mineral programs.

4-H'ers! Don't forget to submit your entries for the 4-H Thank You Card Design Contest - they are due TOMORROW!

Our office is open, and we do have a drop box for after-hours submission. But if you choose to submit via the drop box, we recommend placing it in a sealed container, such as a gallon bag. While it won't get wet in the drop box, it could get damp, and sometimes the bugs will chew on the paper.

4-H'ers - Don't forget to be working on your thank-you card designs! We announced this in the July News & Notes, and the August 14th submission deadline will be here before you know it!
