Promoting literacy is more than teaching reading skills. It's about helping students discover books they genuinely enjoy reading.
This year, Ms. Germann's 11th and 12th grade students participate in regular "Book Breaks" and have access to the classroom's new Book Stop, a space designed to encourage independent (and enjoyable) reading.
This collection of high-interest titles was built through books gathered by the teacher over the summer, new purchases made by the school, and a generous donation from Sunshine for Sharon Gillespie, an organization dedicated to creating a legacy of readers.
Giving students time during the school day to read for enjoyment, strengthens literacy skills, expands perspectives, reduces stress, and develops habits that will benefit them in the classroom and beyond.
Ms. Germann is currently collecting old magazine issues related to health, fitness, cooking, the outdoors, and vehicles. Please email Ms. Germann at [email protected] if you have any to donate.

and cheering participants along the route, or bringing positive energy to the
day, their hard work did not go unnoticed.

This week, our Ag students spent time at the Brown County Fairgrounds helping prepare for the Brown County fair! They set up tents, hung red, white, and blue banners, planted flowers, cleaned out six barns, assisted with decorating, and helped put up handicap signs.

We are proud of their hard work, teamwork, and willingness to serve our community. Thank you, students, for helping make the fairgrounds look great and ready for fair week!

Today, our Cosmetology students had the opportunity to brighten the day of residents at Ohio Valley Manor by providing manicures and hairstyling services.

These hands-on experiences allow our students to practice their skills while making meaningful connections within our community. The smiles, conversations, and confidence shared today were a wonderful reminder of the positive impact a simple act of kindness can have.

Thank you to the residents and staff at Ohio Valley Manor for welcoming our students. We are proud of the professionalism, compassion, and talent our Cosmetology students demonstrated throughout the day!
