Rainbow Kids Playschool provides exceptional child care in a smoke free home for ages 0-3yrs. We are Montessori inspired, secular, progressive, inclusive, antiracist, LGBTQ+ friendly, gender neutral, and gender affirming. We teach science accurately and believe infants are whole people. We require all children in our care to be up to date on vaccinations and for everyone in their household to be f

ully vaccinated for COVID-19. Rainbow Kids Playschool is peanut, tree nut, and food dye free. We have extensive education and experience with food allergies and provide a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snacks that are safe for all little ones in our care. We offer extended outdoor time in our fully fenced back yard. Our educarers are CPR & First Aid certified and have a combined 30+ years of experience in the early childhood setting. Our staff stays up to date on the latest literature for best practices in Early Childhood Education. We stay up to date on the most current COVID-19 mitigation guidelines. Our mission is to provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment where all learners can grow to be happy, healthy, and fulfilled adults.

Now Taking Applications and conducting interviews for enrollment!
Rainbow Kids Playschool is expanding our preschool/pre-k program. We are legally licensed exempt (we do not accept RVR or on my way to pre-k at this time) full time hours M-Th 7am-5:30 pm, we are closed on Fridays. For full time we offer breakfast, lunch, pm snack. We also have part time options for preschool and pre-k (2 days a week full days, or Am or Pm only M-Th. We do not offer food for our half day program. We expect that kids have eaten before they get here and can get through their time here with a water bottle provided from home and labeled with their names. Full time applicants are given priority) this program has a carer/teacher to learner ratio of 1:8. We are hoping this class will fill quickly. There will be openings starting the first week of August. This program is for ages 2.5-5 and we will help with potty learning. We are located across from FCHS.

We are only only program in Floyd county that I know of that is.

*Play based (child centered)

*Montessori inspired

* Spanish immersion 80/20

* Peaceful and conscious "discipline"

* Focus on social emotional learning and centered around kindness and inclusion.

* Give the opportunity to be "kindergarten ready" when they "graduate" pre-k and go on to kindergarten.

* Given as much autonomy as possible while also holding boundaries needed to learn and feel secure.

* Given extended outdoor time (we require weather appropriate gear).

* Given the opportunity to get messy and muddy and enjoy their one and only childhood.

* Open ended art as opposed to crafts

* All of our teachers are certified in CPR/First Aid/AED for infant/pediatric- adult.

* We are all up to date on universal precautions, safe sleep, etc. We all take the classes the state requires for a license even though we are legally unlicensed.

* We keep up to date on the latest best practices.

* We believe children are whole people who are capable of doing much more than most people think and treat them as such giving them the opportunity to do things themselves "Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed." -Maria Montessori

Now Enrolling!!
We have immediate openings and will have more in August when our Friends move on to pre-k and Kindergarten
Right now we have
*1 infant opening 0-walking- Ratio 1:4
*1 toddler opening walking -2.5- Ratio 1:6
*1 preschool opening 2.5+ (In August we will have 5 additional spots for this class the ratio for preschool and Pre-K is 1:8 and we help with potty learning.)
*Our hours are Monday-Thursday 7am-5:30 pm.
* We require all the kids in our care to be up to date on vaccinations.
* I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and over 20 years of professional experience.
*We are all CPR/First Aid/AED certified for infants- adults
*Our program is Secular, Progressive, Montessori inspired, play based, child led, with a child centered curriculum, we have extended outdoor time in all sorts of weather, we get messy outside, we get messy doing art. We fully believe in children having the opportunity to enjoy their childhood as they only get one.
* We practice peaceful & conscious "discipline" and RIE..
*We provide a light breakfast, a healthy lunch, and an afternoon snack.
*We keep you updated on your child throughout the day with an app where you will get pictures and other info as the day goes on.
