Being at school matters, Bengals—and these classes SHOWED UP! ❤️💛

We are excited to celebrate our Weekly Attendance Champions for August 24–28! 🎉👏🏾

🥇 1st Place: Mrs. Stuckey’s 1st Grade Class — an AMAZING 100% attendance! 💯🔥
🥈 2nd Place: Ms. Reed’s 1st Grade Class — 98% attendance! 🌟
🥉 3rd Place: Mrs. McCrea & Mrs. Phipps’ PreK Class — 98% attendance! 🌟

And because getting BADGED deserves a little payday… 💵😂 they also earned some “GRANTed COHENS” that they can spend with the Leadership Team!💰🙌🏾

Our PreK Bengals took learning OUT of their seats and INTO the building with a Letter Scavenger Hunt! 🔎🔤 Working with partners, students searched for letters throughout the school—and they didn’t just identify them! They knew how many lines it took to form the letters! 👏🏾🧠

But wait…because Mrs. McCrea and Mrs. Phipps took it another step! 😂🚗 When it was time to make a right turn, our little Bengals turned on their signal lights so listen carefully! ➡️✨ Talk about making a real-world connection!

And did somebody say AVID in PreK?! 👀📚

Our first grade Bengals let their curiosity SHINE during an Arts + AVID STEM Connections investigation! 🐯✨ Students used flashlights to test different materials and discover how much light could pass through—building their understanding of transparent, translucent, and opaque materials through hands-on exploration.

Okay…tell me our Bengal Belt of Excellence doesn’t give championship belt vibes! 😂🏆 We ❤️ it—and even better, we LOVE what it represents: excellence, achievement, teamwork, recognition, and Bengal PRIDE! 🌟

A HUGE thank you to Coach Lorenzo for writing the grant that brought this special tradition to The Ferry! 👏🏾👏🏾 And Coach takes his job of passing that belt VERY seriously!

💙🎓 IT’S TEAL TUESDAY AT THE FERRY! 🎓💙

On Teal Tuesdays, we shine a spotlight on college, career, and military awareness as we help our Bengals see all the possibilities waiting for them! 🌎✨

A big part of preparing our students for their futures is AVID—and our second grade Bengals already know exactly what it means at The Ferry:

⬆️ LEVELING UP (finger pointing up)
👍 THROUGH MY OWN (thumbs point to self)
💪 HARD WORK! (flex those muscles!)

AVID helps students develop the skills and habits they need to become confident, independent learners. Through WICOR—Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading—our Bengals learn to think, ask questions, work together, stay organized, and take ownership of their learning. 📚📝🤝

Whether their future leads to college, a career, or the military, we’re helping our Bengals recognize the possibilities ahead while building the skills to get there! 🎓💼🇺🇸

🎶🐯 MAGNET MONDAY: WE’VE GOT THE BEAT! 🐯🎶

Our Kindergarten Bengals have got the beat—and they’re putting it to good use! 🥁🪇🎵

Today, Mr. Goodson introduced some of our Kinders to steady beat and gave them the opportunity to explore some of the many instruments we have available right here at The Ferry. From African drums and tambourines to maracas, Boomwhackers, and more, everybody had a part to play! 🎶

And as you can see…they understood the assignment! 😂👏🏾

They weren’t just learning about music. They were listening, playing, keeping the beat, and making music together! Experiences like this are exactly why we value being a Creative & Performing Arts magnet school. Our Bengals get opportunities to discover the arts by actually experiencing them—and sometimes, all it takes is putting an instrument in a child’s hands to uncover a talent or passion they didn’t know was there. ⭐

We think it’s safe to say Mr. Goodson may have a future percussion section on his hands! 🥁😂

At The Ferry, even our youngest Bengals get a chance to find their rhythm and take center stage! 🎬🎶🐯

🎨🐯✨ IT’S MAGNET MONDAY AT THE FERRY! ✨🐯🎨

One of the many blessings of becoming a Creative & Performing Arts magnet school has been having our art and music teachers FULL TIME! 🎨🎶 This year, we made it even sweeter by officially adding our Pre-K Bengals to the Related Arts rotation—and they are having an absolute BLAST! 🥰

Just take a look at our littlest Bengals enjoying their time in art with Mrs. Nesmith! 🎨🖌️ They’ve been learning about the different types of lines—but they didn’t just look at them or draw them…they BECAME the lines themselves!〰️〰️〰️ From straight to curved, zigzag and more, our Bengals used their whole bodies to explore how lines can look and move. Talk about bringing the elements of art to life! 🙌🏾🎨

And can we brag on Pre-K for a minute?! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Our Pre-K students have been absolute BENGAL STARS! ⭐🐯 We think it’s safe to say that EVERYONE is impressed with their hallway and cafeteria procedures! They are learning the routines, following expectations, and showing us each day that even our youngest Bengals can rise to the occasion. 💛🍎

We’ve seen SO much growth in just 10 days… imagine what the next 170 will bring! 🤩

Keep shining, Pre-K Bengals! ⭐ We are SO proud of you, and we can’t wait to watch you create, perform, learn, and grow all year long! 🎨🎶🎭💃🏾
